Do you Midas? You said it's hard for you to dislike someone and it apparently took me 3 posts.

Hating on fellow fans of my team isn't really my thing - but I'm not here to troll. I said before I was done defending Doyle.
Good. And good. At least you're not up Kreis's ass, so maybe there's hope we can be pals. Or at least civil.

But ftr, still think you did folks wrong on BS, but I'm wrong to bring it up here.

And yeah, you're the first to gain my ire among those not here for CFG. Goes to show how well Doyle has done his self-appointed job of being a dick about NYCFC. He goes out of his way. It's incomprehensible & indefensible. But we're all allowed to be wrong occasionally. Let's see how you prove me wrong.

I did folks wrong? I honestly have no clue what that's about but it was probably not deliberate.

I did like Kreis but I mainly want some continuity from a competent manager. If PV is that guy I hope we stick with him for a while.

Just look at my post history. I am extremely critical about our team. But I'm also realistic and give credit when due and well-earned.

We had as many missed chances as RBNJ. Doyle won't even acknowledge that. We also have had more chances in many of our losses. He doesn't mention that, either. That is the definition of bias, isn't it? He has a narrative he is intent on defending. As do you when it comes to him.

Whatever. At least it's all out in the open.

My only agenda is us winning. Well, that and stopping obstinate, willful ignorance marching under the banner of objectivity.

Is this Doyle Character on Sirius ? I listen to XMFC all the time (pretty much that or the New Wave channel on in my car) I know in the morning we've got Rodney Marsh/Tommy Smith, I know when Jason Davis is on (don't exactly think he likes or rates us either ) but i'm not sure who all the guys on the MLS coverage late afternoon/early evening are. One guy who's on pretty often seems rather anti NYCFC , that him?

So...I made this account a long time ago because I had intentions of getting into soccer. Well, that didn't happen exactly as planned but I watched the match yesterday, and I think I'm hooked. I've never been that amped up after a sporting event. Ever. I can't wait until Wednesday night.

You don't by chance have a tubby boyfriend named Sam, do you?

Total bonus points for using two ...ensible words in a row. Tough posts doubling as poetry. Nice!

I just think you are making mountains out of mole hills - he also said Jack is playing at an MLS best 11 level and predicted this game was setup for him to do damage.

I barely know the guy but there are so few knowledgeable people writing about MLS that I'm not going to throw the baby out with the bath water just because he says our defense is still in need of improvement. But if that's your thing - it's silly for me to argue otherwise. We all can be fanatics in our own way.

Anyway, I had to watch the game on my phone and it seemed to me like Lampard was fairly invisible overall - do people think he played well? Can't argue with the result so maybe I just missed his contributions.

I have no horse in this race, but it'd have taken an idiot to not have recognized Jack Harrison already had started playing at a Best 11 level - for Doyle to call it for the RB game was simply a bandwagon move. Jack was already getting accolades before this weekend and Doyle read all of them.

And Lampard was instrumental in the game. Watch it on a screen larger than your phone and you'll see. He marshaled the midfield and was a total linchpin the entire game - he made at least one goal-scoring block when he came out of nowhere and tackled a ball away in the box. I had high hopes for him prior to the season even saying he'd score 10 goals, then was completely down on him for the handling of the injury and a lack of information regarding it, but I'll happily go back to my early statements that the midfield is dangerous with him and he's another defacto leader.

1. Midas Mulligan Midas Mulligan and D dark knight should do the rest of us a favor and take their tedious conversation to private messages in order to save a thread that FootyLovin FootyLovin said should be a happier place.

2. What Doyle has said about us in the wake of that game is simply indefensible, but mindless criticism of our team is pretty widespread in the media. There is a theme out there that we are some kind of raging dumpster fire - recent results be damned. A good portion of the national media slavishly adhere to this. Sports Illustrated had us 18th in their most recent MLS Power Rankings (admittedly a couple weeks old, but still...). As I said earlier, I hope this result and our spot in the table will change the theme.

Hey, I wouldn't criticize anyone for booing the Red Bulls, that's for sure!

EDIT. And I wasn't praising the "F" chant. Just saying how much I loved everything else.
Fair enough (I disagree but fair enough), and sorry for reviving a now-dead dispute on the booing but I had low impulse control yesterday. For the record, I clapped Frankie off the field Saturday, as did a certain notorious forum member.

Bandwagon or not, the point was just that it's not all negative and included an explanation for why Red Bulls are particularly vulnerable to him. Anyway - happy to move on from that topic.

Thanks - it may be my own recent bias against Lampard that's influencing my view so I'll watch again as you suggest. As much as I like Mix - we seem so much more purposeful with him out of the side.

Seriously.. Are we so used to being upset after bad losses that we have to find shit to be mad about even after 3 straight wins...
My friend told me this on the way home from the match.

"I don't think it's hit me that we won. I think I've just gotten used to being sad after we leave the stadium."

So maybe people aren't used to us winning at home/against the Red Bulls.
