Expansion Rumors Megathread

eh if they did FC / SC people would say it sucks.....i guess maybe they could of done something like "internacional" or internacional de miami if you wanted.

Don’t let the terrible name distract you from the fact that they’ve made reverse progress towards building a stadium from the official MLS announcement event a few months ago.

I really think they should have pulled the franchise permanently once Miami backed off the downtown site. And if MLS didn't draft the documents in a way that gave them that right, then someone needs to be fired.

I guess I lit a fire under someone’s ass:

http://amp.miamiherald.com/sports/mls/article211712754.html?__twitter_impression=true

But seriously, it’s pure speculation about the Miami team name based on patent information.

My first reaction if it’s ultimately true:

Not a big fan. It sounds like a WNBA team name.

I saw on Twitter that there are some who believe (and it makes sense) that they may apply for 3 or 4 names and then let fans choose the name of the franchise from those choices.

I guess we’ll have to wait (probably a REALLLLY long time) and see.

As far as where the stadium ultimately gets built, my money is on Doral.

So, how do they balance the conferences in 2019 and 2020? Right now it is 11 in the East and 12 in the West. The 3 new teams all look like Eastern Conference teams: Cincinnati, Nashville and Miami. The other wild card is whether the Crew move to Austin.

If the Crew stay put, then the conferences are even in 2019, but one team will have to switch West in 2020. My guess would be Chicago.

If the Crew move to Austin, then one team needs to move East for a season in 2020, before moving back. My guess would be Minnesota.

I suppose the tidiest outcome would be for the Crew to move after 2019, in which case, no other teams would need to change.

Sigh. MLS owners continue to think too small. Stadium size of 21,000 when they are already drawing almost 24,000 as a USL team.

oh i read it as how much they are drawing, where was the stadium capacity mentioned? also i think it did very well since i think some student section tickets were like $5 -$10 so its not hard to sell alot. i do think prices will go up across the board when they get their own stadium. rather it be full than empty seats at higher capacity

FC Cincy fans traveled real well last year for their US Open Cup match in Miami. Good for them. That city deserves a MLS team more than Miami and Nashville.

You have to think that at this point, Beckham wishes he had gone all in on a city like Cincy and not Miami.
