Rbny Reduces Available Tickets To 500

I understand how you feel but this is not really the fault of the Third Rail as they have been begging people to not bring smoke bombs to the games. If the organization says, "don't do it" and the same 8 or 10 people still do it there's not really much the Third Rail can do about it. It's a tough situation without really much of a good solution as far as I can see.

In some ways this is the fault of the FO in a way at least in part. It's hard to get people to stop with the smoke when they put it up on the official club web site and Twitter account at the beginning of the season.
I see your point, but the TR could have been much better with its messaging around smoke bombs. For example, TR sent an email today detailing the additional sanctions from MLS. They didn't mention once in there what it was for, or to tell people they need to stop bringing in smoke. They also could have included language saying that sanctions could continue to get worse if this continues.

I could be wrong but it was my impression that the MLS sanctions didn't actually say what they were for, at least not explicitly. So not really something that TR did, they were just passing on the info. At least that's my understanding of the situation.

I suspect we have arrived at the place where TR will either get tough on this or hemorrhage members until they are left with few beyond the smoke blowers. From among the other SGs a leader will eventually emerge and we'll have a new lead SG that will better represent. FO might also expedite this by managing group ticket sales and away game stuff through other SG(s). Yes this also has problems but might be what happens.

Yes, very true. I guess I assumed there was some kind of communication that wasn't completely public that came from the MLS to the TR leadership.

You make it sound like Game of Thrones or something. "And lo, did ye mighty Hearts of Oak swoop down and cast their vengeance upon the House of Smoke Blowers, ruling all of Section 237"

I swear this whole supporters group bullshit is so fucking tedious.

Please...237? To hell with that section. Hearts of Oak? #WeAre238!!!!

To act like the smoke issue is solely caused by TR is seriously naive and misinformed. The smoke has come from a variety of supporters, some TR, some from other groups and some unaffiliated. For a specific example, the individual responsible for throwing the smoke bomb on the field at Red Bull Arena during the first derby was not a TR member. TR gets the brunt of the blame because it's the only official supporters group and the former president, Chance Michaels, was pretty vocal about it publicly and tried to self-police. One of the biggest problems is that the pro-smoke people are more than happy to step forth on the Internet and fight for their perceived right to be an ultra but when it is actually time to take responsibility for it in person at the stadium they run for cover.

Now that's what you call a plastic ultra.

Just curious. Has there ever been an opposing fans fight at a MLS match? If not, it's gonna be between these two at some point. They do not want that to happen. They want this league to be family friendly. Some may think that's uncool, but that is what is required for continued success. A disobidient environment took it's toll on the PL and Serie A is having those problems now.

Where they placed RB fans at YS was dumb. Regarding the argument that spreading NYCFC fans throughout RBA could make it worse probably isn't true. People get balls amongst their own and are more hesitant when outnumbered.

The NYCFC hooligans or whomever think they're cool with a bandana on their face and throwing smoke bombs. You are not Ultras, but are trying too hard to be. If you asked me out of ever stadium in the country which won't tolerate a nonconformist mentality the most..YS would be up there. The SS have crap chants and Tifos. They are disorganized and sometimes embarrassing. Work on being a top notch supporters group before worrying about being an ultra lol. Newbs.

I think you misunderstood Nick. I don't think being scattered will encourage our boys to try to make more trouble I think being scattered will more likely embolden some Red Bulls jack ass to start something with ours while they have them surrounded and terribly out numbered. It makes us potentially easy targets. Being outnumbered might take people's balls away to start something but it also makes them easy targets.

I agree and yes I was looking at it the other way.

I have yet to be to an away match and won't be coming to this one so I'm not speaking from experience. I did not see any violence at the home derby but I did find the RB fans very aggressive arriving by metro north from Connecticut I had to walk by where they were all clustered across the stream. I just kept my head forward and walked as fast as I could as they taunted but it did feel like they were trying to goad someone into being stupid and giving them an excuse. Hopefully nothing will happen at this match.

My neighbor is one of these so called nyc hooligans and constantly posts pictures of himself on Facebook flipping people off while also telling me I'm a fake supporter for not sitting in the bleachers or taking part in hooliganism. His latest post was discussing how the ticket allocation was bullshit and that he is going to now cover RBA in orange and blue smoke. It's as if people will never learn. I'm embarrassed for him and for us as a fan base.

I will never understand the use of the middle finger by people older than the age of 14.

For the love of God may the person you are referring to get caught and beaten. I will however settle for caught.
