Perhaps we need to start Tommy in this one, because... this...

My biggest qualm with this match.

The team flies out on Friday for a Saturday game at high altitude. Is ~24 hours enough to adjust to high altitude?

Nope. Not even close. At least squad is on a full week of rest.

Unless they have a late fitness test and don't know their 18. Very possible.

There are two trains of thought on the matter:

1. Get in early and acclimate "fully"
2. Zip in at the last minute so your body doesn't get caught (being tired) between shifting physiologically. Then zip out. If timed right, and the team doesn't tax themselves in training at altitude before the match, they may be fine, but subs will need to be timed right and not our typical wait 'till 75+ with the last one at 85' (wtf). This is the strategy the MNT has used for games at Azteca.

This is very odd because I recall Vieira saying that during long west coast trips he wants to be in that city as early as possible to adjust to the jetlag and travel.

I'm chalking up a loss and would be our first back to back losses of the season.

Yeah that was the plan with LA last time, team was there for a few days but that's mostly to get caught up with time. Has Vieira ever played at high altitude before? I can't imagine he would have in Italy, England or with France.
