NYCFC Players Wanted Thread

Just curious, who are these personalities?
They probably prefer Mihailovic due to his age and potential. Yes, I am a big Basti fan but even I would prefer a younger midfielder with big potential over an aging star.

In many ways the best answer might be a combination of aging star and young high upside talent across the three positions. No way to quantify it but I do wonder how much the star power on our roster has helped seal deals for some recruits. Will it hurt recruiting if Villa is replaced by a talented but less known player and PV inevitably leaves to be replaced by a coach with less star power?

I'm originally from the Chicago area, so these are friends/family whose opinions I respect over there.

I do also have friends/family whose sports opinions I don't respect.

I'm not discounting the effect Schweinsteiger had, I just think it's crazy that you don't think the guy who scored 24 goals this year or Dax didn't also effect the Fire's turnaround
I said they get credit for getting them to mediocrity.

Agree. A mix of potential and experience.

For the front positions, when will we discover our own Ribéry? Granted Bayern Munich paid 25mm euro for him but that turned out to be a steal. Marseille lucked out by signing him but undersold him. We need to discover someone like that (without the necessary traditional background) and who will go down in history as one of clubs all time great

If we had such a player we’d sell him off within 3 years. But we’d have GAM for ages!!!

The USA would need to develop a Ribery first

Our own Ribéry can be somewhere in South America playing with a broken ball on the street right now. We just need to discover him, bring him over here before someone else try to sign him and nurtur and develop him (this includes “off the field caring” such as don’t get carried away by fame and money and don’t get into drug/drinking/relationship headaches). NYCFC, are you up to the task?

Wouldn't be Jack? I don't get what you're trying to say.

So buy a guy like Medina you are saying?

Both Jack and Medina are along the line of what I was thinking, but I desire someone more special

Special in that sense likely would mean special enough for a bigger pay check in a better league. It would be great for MLS to get to the point where a special talent born in the league becomes a lifer, but that’s not yet the case.

Can’t argue against that. Since he will inevitably go to Europe if he is that special, I will settle for selling him for 30mm and buy 3 Villa then

In light of Reyna saying we are going to draft midfield and behind , I think we will be looking in league for a backup striker . I see us using Rodney Wallace as trade material . I’d like to see us move him for a player like dominque badji. If not we will prob try and sign Rubio Rubin and maybe we do sign st Arthur bosua in a later round in the draft .

Would also like us to look at signing ibeagha. Kind of like a Ben sweat situation. Didn’t do well on mls team , went to lower division , shined and could potentially come back to a higher team now and contribute . Other centerbacks i would like us to trade for back up are Jared watts from Colorado who can also pinch in as defensive mid . Or Eric Miller, not a star but can fill in throughout the back line.

Would also be cool to sign Giovanni Reyna to a homegrown . Heard he had a growth spurt and some believe he has what it takes to come to a higher level . Although he may go abroad , signing him would be a coup . If not , maybe we
Get the attacking mid from Miami Dylan mares. Looks like he can be a solid depth signing .

Given our history of being willing to trade up , I see us trading up for Hilliard Arce . I also see us looking for another right back for depth . Could see us going for tristian Blackmon.

Gio is about 6'1" now. I have no clue where he gets his height from.

He also probably weighs about 100 pounds soaking wet
