Crew SC owner considers moving team to Austin, Texas

I don’t understand the Columbus lawsuit. The team isn’t moving to Austin. The Columbus Crew organization is folding keeping their history and trophies in Columbus while Precourt and PSV with their MLS investor operator shares are going to operate a new MLS team in Austin.

We'll that's the loophole.

Well if you're from Columbus that's pretty much the definition of cold comfort right there, no? Is MLS really claiming the team's not actually moving?

I mean sure, the Mets colors are Dodger blue and Giants orange but that didn't make them the Dodgers or the Giants, and that didn't make those teams moving any more palatable to their fans. I bet you still could find some people in Brooklyn in their 60s, 70s, or 80s who still haven't quite forgiven the Dodgers for moving.

If the league were immediately starting a new franchise there - like the Cleveland Browns - then I could understand.

Maybe they are forced to really dissolve the team. Let all the players become free agents, let all the coaches & management out of their contracts, and have an expansion draft for Austin. Because if the whole team just moves over to Austin and puts on new colored pajamas, I can't see a Judge buying it (if this law can even be applied, many lawyers here say no).

I don't think the judge is going to buy that either.

Anyone know if the Austin vote is actually happening today? I heard yesterday one of the announcers in the USOC talk about it being today, but I can't find any info about it online.

It’s on their city council agenda today, should be taken up mid-afternoon our time.

Honestly I'm all for it. Relocation of a franchise is deadly for the league. I hate that other sports have done it, I think it's ridiculous and shameful to all parties involved.

I think the logo is ok, and the colors are alright for the logo. But I don't see how those colors work anywhere outside of that crest.
Compare it with any other logo in MLS and it just... it just doesn't fit in. It looks like one of those neon signs you see in the shady areas of town.
