Wow. If you haven't looked at the standings/scoring there were very significant changes from this morning.

I lost 6 points somehow. Sweet.

I lost 3 points, and my biggest complaint (I lost anyway) is it is so hard to figure out where, and how the points were calculated. If you click on a player on your squad a flyout window opens that repeats his point total but gives no details. You have to then click on that and open his profile in a new window, which finally tells you how he earned his points.

We’ll see if my point total stands but it was nice being the top dog.
Made some changes this week for the better.

oh my god, this game is so so so so so effin stupid. They seems to have some kind of 0.5 price raise cap per player, but if the guy has some kind of monster week it looks like he will get his raise spread over 2+ weeks. Tell me what valenzuela did this week to deserve a +0.5 raise (or sweat or senderos or philips) . i mean i am not complaining that he got it as he was on my team, but had i known i would have bought all the week 1 cheap guys and stashed them for the BS raise. I am sure someone did and is now like 106+ bank. Sacrifice making a solid team for the early bank boost.

Not saying the week 1 stud performances didn't deserved the price pops, but it should have happened all in one shot. You shouldn't get rewarded for finding a "hidden gem" after its already been discovered. This is asinine! Hope everyone enjoys having 85% matching teams next week when everyone else notices this.

Was really hoping a score adjustment would save me from a one point loss last week, but alas.

I finally counted the entry fees and I think I am waiting for 3 of them One is NYCFC_Dan NYCFC_Dan who said he would be late and has permission per an exchange earlier in the thread.

The other two are Jon Jon and adam. Adam, I remember last year you paid me in person at a game. You planning to do the same this year? That's fine, just please let me know the details. Jon I need to hear from you too.

Sorry, flaked on that. Just let me know how to forward the money to you. I must have missed a post about this.

2018 PIGEON CUP FORMAT

This turned out to be a bit tricky because I wanted to avoid the World Cup and because of the split season.

The Group stage is going to consist of 3 groups of 4 teams. Each will play each other "home and away" for a total of 6 group matches to decide who moves on to the knockout round. The top 2 in each group and the 2 best 3rd place finishes will move on to the quarterfinal knockout round and be seeded by 1st place finishers (1-3), 2nd place finishers (4-6) and 3rd place finishers (7-8).

The groups will be set according to the standings at the end of Week 9. I will plug the standings into a round robin scheduling program and set the schedule then.

Group A = 1st, 6th, 7th, 12th

Group B = 2nd, 5th, 8th, 11th

Group C = 3rd, 4th, 9th, 10th

The first round of Group play will be weeks 10-12 (May 4th to May 21st). Then there will be a lengthy World Cup break and the second round of group play will be weeks 22-24 (July 25th to August 12th).

Quarterfinals = Week 26 (August 22-26)
Semifinals = Week 27 (August 29-September 2)
Finals = Week 29 (September 12-16)

MLS fantasy sometimes changes which games are which weeks. I tried to avoid heavy DGWs international breaks and funky weeks as much as possible based on the information available while having 3 consecutive weeks for the group stages. If the fantasy schedule changes we can talk about tweaking this schedule like we did last year. Who will be the third Pigeon Cup winner???

With unlimited weekly transfers, you probably don't need to worry too much about the scheduling. It's not like someone will get screwed with a roster full of bye week players like I did in FPL this week!

True -- the DGWs tend to get everyone picking the same players though and I figured its better if all the MLS players are in the country and can play if healthy.

So they locked NYCFC’s players at the originally scheduled kick off in spite of the widely announced delay, which was not great.

I still don't have the mentality of remembering to check the lineups -- screwed me bad this week with Tinny and Villa.

I'm realizing now that, more so than ever before, having backups (if you're paying attention like I wasn't) is complete waste of $$s.

Yeah, I have a problem of setting my lineup early in the week and then not checking on it later. Had Villa and Tinny with DNPs and then had PC on my bench, who had the additional game suspension later announced.

I am hopeless this year. Partly this problem, and partly every hunch I have goes wrong. I'm probably already out of the running for the first half, and might not be able to compete in the second half based on squad value.

Our league is tough. 5 teams out of 12 in the top 500 globally right now.

I was assuming the budget would be reset to $100M the second half of the season but the values of the players will remain what they were at the end of the 1st half -- making the 2nd half much more challenging and competitive. One of the problems with the system last year is that there was no budget pressure at the end of the year. I could put whoever I wanted in my starting 11. A budget reset in August will definitely take care of that problem.

So last week I grabbed PC early in the week to throw on my bench as a cheap sub defender. I didn't pay attention to the Disco Review and that he was suspended for another game so he stayed on my roster. And since I picked him up, his value has declined, even though he didn't dress at all.

Going back to the point Rimil Rimil made, I feel like those who will do best in MLS Fantasy this year are going to be those that identify the players that are going to get that extra salary bump in a following week and adding them, or dumping those on their roster that are bound to get an extra loss the following week.

I just don't have the time to go in and track all of that, but there's a pretty big advantage to be had there.
