What’s with the empty seats in the lower tier? It looks like a RB game.
Everyone wanted to sit in the extension bleachers than actual seats.

Curious to know how the FOXSPORTS coverage has been like.

Any good ?
The pbp has been fine. They’ve shipped in a few UK guys for their B team. They also got what seems to be the same Mexico crew that ESPN uses for El Tri doing some games.

You can maybe quibble a bit with Strong and Holden as the A team, but I think they are fine in this case because they don’t know the players as well. That makes them focus on the action, not the bs narratives like they do when the US plays.

Due to the early starts, I haven’t seen a second of studio coverage.

In all, it sort of seems a notch below ESPN. But my opinion may be clouded just because the whole thing seems a notch below with the US (and the other big 3) absentees.

ETA: worth mentioning that Aly Wagner is doing a good job and seems to have a strong rapport with Derek Rae. I find her far better in these matches than she is when she does USWNT matches.

I don’t much care for Meola in the booth. And JP used to be a staple pbp guy. He is still an HOFer, but I think the competition has just passed him by.

Eta2: really don’t like the Glenn Davis/Cobi Jones pairing. Glenn sounds like a hockey guy, and Cobi needs ADD meds.

Eta3: looks like JP/Tony are about to do MX/Ger. That makes me sad. Missing a great opportunity to not have the Hispanic duo cover this one. Would bring either more excitement or (likely and hopefully) despair based on how the match was going.

I suppose that was done because they are actually going to be at the stadium instead of calling from the screen.

It's the same FOX crew that does the Mexico qualifying games. He's the play by play announcer that says, "Ready. Set. FIREEEEE!" during free kicks.

10x worse than the English language Unimas crew for MLS. I changed the channel to Telemundo.

Was that the guy who said "BOOM goes the dynamite!" yesterday? Whoever that was, all sins are forgiven just for that.

So I wasn't able to watch the Russia game, or any of the games on Friday, but IMO, the officiating has been really good so far. I can remember one yellow card that I thought was a really bad decision, but other than disagreeing here and there with smaller fouls, I haven't found myself thinking the officiating is atrocious.

Still think JP Dellacamara is the best U.S. voice going in soccer. Tony is decent with his commentary but has a horrible voice for it. Very laconic and with a thick accent.

Haven’t seen much in studio, but what I’ve seen seems very silly in that annoying way that is common for Fox, with way too many commercials.

I want Mexico to get 6 points and still not qualify for the round of 16. It's currently in play. Germany blows out South Korea, beats Sweden by a goal. Sweden beats Mexico by a goal or more. Mexico beats South Korea 1-0. If it came to that, Germany would be top of the table, Sweden and Mexico would be tied but Sweden would advance. This is the scenario I need as a USMNT. That'd be the most heartbreaking World Cup ever for an El Tri fan.

I'm running the office world cup pool via fifa's website and am convinced the server is powered by one tired hamster somewhere in Geneva.
