*fancy name* or *fancy name* or England

I went with official name in official language for this round. Unfortunately for England, they are quite plain.

While England is a country "recognized" by FIFA, the full name of the country along with three other countries is The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.

oh, I know what you did, and it's great! I just find it absolutely hilarious. I always wonder why the UK isn't one team, but I read somewhere online it has to do with the first few international football competitions being in the UK and they played as separate teams, and it stuck? I'm not sure how true that is.

There's some great stories about the Great Britain Olympic team for London 2012. Gareth Bale (Wales) wanted to play on the team, or they wanted him on the team. Wales isn't an Olympic country but it's a FIFA country. FIFA organizes the Olympic tournament but it's Olympic nations. The Wales FA would have disowned him should he have played for Great Britain. Ultimately, he didn't play and the GB team was just English players and five Welsh players.

So this is the first time ever the last 4 doesn't have at least one of Brazil, Germany , Italy or Argentina. All the multi time winners including Uruguay out so it's either going to be number 2 for France or England or a first time winner.

The very first international match was between England and Scotland.

There's too much history between the nations of the United Kingdom for them to pass up a chance to fight each other, especially when sublimated into sports.

I think whoever wins is doing so by being less rubbish than everyone else.

The quality of the teams hasn't been that high at this tournament, with the big nations being poor by their standards.

None of these four semi-final squads would have made a previous world cup semi final.

Saying that, its made for the most surprising and entertaining world cup in awhile.

Yeah, that's been my feeling of this tournament so far too. That said, France and Belgium have looked good in the last few games.

I just realized that England have scored a total of two goals from the run of play (I am not counting Kane's unintended deflection for this).

Tunisia (Corner, Corner)
Panama (Corner, PK, Run of Play, Corner, PK, Deflection)
Belgium (None)
Colombia (PK)
Sweden (Corner, Run of Play)

Who has more goals, Set Piece or Own Goal.

Their tally is a bit misleading because if the fouls weren’t committed thus requiring PKs, then who’s to say the fouled player wouldn’t have scored? Not saying every foul would have led to a guaranteed goal, but England is being very dangerous in the box to have collected/forced so many PKs.

Yup, my intention wasn't to to discredit England's play at all so far this tournament. Especially since I haven't disagreed with any of the penalties I've seen awarded to them. Just kind of a crazy stat, especially considering the amount of goals they have scored.

What’s really crazy is that baring a miracle by Griezmann, Harry Kane has already won the Golden Boot since he has 6G to Griezmann’s 3G. If Harry gets one more, it’s realistically sealed, and if not AG will need a Ronaldo-type game to overcome him. Don’t they take into consideration how many matches it took to achieve the count when breaking ties?
