Tony Larsen has a decent article up about last night's USOC game. Here's his take on Medina:
"At just 15, Scally was better equipped to take knocks than DP Jesus Medina. To date, Medina, with flashes of on the ball brilliance doesn’t seem to have the strength to keep a solid presence in this league. The young man needs to hit the gym hard to stop being pushed around and be able to keep the ball in the midfield. Until then, I am leaning towards thinking NYCFC could have better spent DP monies elsewhere."

The whole thing is worth a click, https://medium.com/@tlpretender/stop-it-daddy-youre-embarrassing-me-d695b11037bc

Yeah, I read it this morning. He's spot on. Jesus Medina didn't belong on the pitch last night. He was out run, out muscled, can't pass, can't shoot, can't create for other players. Lewis does a rainbow flick to escape his man, fights forward and moves the ball on... which ends up eventually at Medina... and the play dies. As a matter of fact, every time the ball ended up at Medina's feet the play died. He escaped 2 defenders at most the entire game. Complete lame and I REALLY hope he's renegotiated after this season.

Do we think he's been better so far this season ? If so do we give Delia any credit for it?
I think it's too early to tell if he's better because the sample size of minutes played is so small and the circumstances are strange.

Stats per fbref.com:
2018- .45 G+A/90, .5 xG+xA/90 (10% "underperformance")
2019- .49 G+A/90, .57 xG+xA/90 (14% "underperformance")
2020- .34 G+A/90, .19 xG+xA/90 (56% "overperformance")

So you could interpret that as saying that his finishing has improved astronomically this year, but he's only played 262 minutes so far.

Delia's main idea seems to be putting Medina in the midfield, but it's an ongoing experiment.
