NYCFC Players Wanted Thread

Gago's injury history is really tragic. Most people with his list of serious injuries just call it quits.

The video of him during an Argentina match (Not during the World Cup maybe two years ago at this point) is so heartbreaking. Minutes after coming on as a sub, tears his ACL and refuses to believe it going so far as to get back into the game, immediately falling to the ground again.

Yeah, that was about 2-3 years ago in his umpteenth return from serious injury, when people were again speculating if now he'd fulfill the potential he showed when Real Madrid bought him as a 20 year old. He's only 32 now but his knees are like 200

So... Toronto moved up in the allocation order. Some rumors are to get Fabjo. If they had to move Altidore to do so, would we want him as our DP striker?

My USMNT bias says no f’in way. But he fits the mold of a strong physical striker who can score goals in this league and is still only 29. Idk...

(PS. I think if they move/release anyone it’s Bradley)

NOT saying he’s leaving, but Gio is not happy with management or the playing surface. Attributes his and the team’s injuries to the field.

Yes to a healthy Altidore.

But I think that’s a very “middle of the road” MLS move right now. Something an Orlando would do.

Weren’t there rumors about Jozy heading back abroad?

Slightly confused , are you both saying that we should make this move if it was possible but also that it's a move suited for a team of lesser ambitions at the same time?

Sounds like what K Kjbert is saying. I’m on the fence with Altidore. He ticks all the boxes for what we are looking for in a striker. If he’s healthy for a full season I think he can score 25 goals for us. But I’ve only known disappointment from the player.

I don’t consider it a half ass/Orlando move, just based on the salary it would cost the team. It’s not cheaping out. I also like that he’s proven in MLS, someone in Europe may seem more exciting, but it’s always a crap shoot bringing them over.

I think it lacks ambition to go get Altidore.

I do believe that a healthy Altidore is a borderline MVP caliber player.

He and Callens would kill each other in practice.

Altidore’s hamstring was repaired with Velcro. It’s not if he’ll be injured again, it’s when, and over time Velcro loses its ability to hold together.

You showed up to watch "The Fox". You can make it through anything.
Wait, who is the fox? I’m probably being dense, but I can’t remember at all what/whom you’re talking about.

I despise Altidore. I despise Bradley. They both represent weaknesses in the US system, although different in nature and causation. And it’s not at all entirely their fault.

But I’m not a big enough person to let it go. Sorry. Im just not. So I’m good with just saying they both suck.

Got bored and started digging around for affordable center forwards in Spain. Decided Loren Morón looks like a good profile for NYCFC: young, not too pricey, tall but not slow, solid underlying numbers, has a cannon from distance but also makes good runs, plays some defense. Plus just think of the Post headlines his name could inspire.

Should add that Real Betis is doing really well, currently in a Europa League spot, so it's probably a fantasy to think of buying one of their starters this winter. But they've got a younger, likely more talented striker behind Morón on the depth chart in Antonio Sanabria, so who knows, maybe they'll want to make room by summer.

So here's the thing, I feel like he's too similar to Berget to merit getting. At least what I saw.
