Twitter Is Ablaze With Talk Of Frank Lampard, Too.

Would Lampard fill the role at the bottom of the diamond at this stage in his career? Or attacking mid?

I'm very happy about Lampard joining. I don't understand why some people don't want him here.

Villa is young enough to give 3-5 years of good play by MLS standards. Lampard, maybe 1-2? It's a nice name splash, and he will be a good player for us, but his tenure could be pretty short for investment we are making.

It's simple, when you have incidents like his 9/11 situation, it kinda looks bad. Not taking anything away from his talent as a player but in the eyes of Britain he is a sport legend but to America, he is painted as somewhat of an jerk. Sucks to say but that was his first impression to the US and unfortunately it's not going to go away that soon to many people, especially in New York

I think he'd play in a similar role that Steven Gerrard plays in at Liverpool. CDM right above the back 4

Slowly filling in the blanks!

I personally would like Lampard on the team even if it's only for 2 years because he brings a ton of experience and he can guide the younger players.

I think it could be nice PR for fans of other English clubs that we are not primarily going after players with Man City connections.

The Daily Mirror in the UK is reporting that the deal is done. Not sure if they are a reliable source.

In the UK, the credibility of rumours is more based on how many sources are reporting it and how many details are provided. Every paper has some sources, but every paper also makes up a load of nonsense. There are places around that keep a record of what percentage of reported stories about transfers end up actually happening, sorted by newspaper reporting the stories, and no paper has an accuracy of more than about 30%.

This is what I'm thinking as well. It seems more of a signing for marketing reasons. He would be a huge tool to get fans of other EPL teams to watch NYCFC.

I'm angry but mostly disappointed that NYCFC a) didn't do their homework and realize the scum Lampard is for making the 9/11 comments or b) simply didn't care enough to consider it an issue. On top of everything, he's an old piece of crap.

I really was not following EPL on a regular basis back then, and I tried to search for what he actually said or did, I couldn't find anything other then he and other players were drunkenly abusing some Americans at a hotel. Without the exact content, that is pretty inexcusable, but does anyone know exactly what he said or did?

That is a bit disappointing, but hopefully they do not try to ignore it, he faces it head on and addresses it and people can see that who we were in our 20's does not reflect who we are a decade or so later.

Seriously, so He did something stupid 13 years ago. give the guy a break and support him hes a fantastic player one of the very best in EPL history and hes still plenty of gas left in his tank. its quite amazing we got him

I don't remember the last time Lamp played a full 90 minutes so it should be interesting

I agree. He should address the fact that he did something shitty 13 years ago but that it's something that he will always regret and that hes matured as an individual.
