I'm more concerned about our Zlatan discovery claim.

Zlatan is going wherever he wants to go and the league will definitely make sure of that so I don't think anyone will be able to hold him hostage with a Discovery Claim

By the way, if people are interested in the Zlatan background, this link is a reading of an article in the Blizzard (great publication) a while back. It talks about his early time in Sweden and the Netherlands. Pretty interesting.

i got their free sample volume ( dont know if they still offer it) man that was a good read and its massive like 200 plus pages. i definitely like the perspective of their articles. its not a summary of current games etc. its a longer analysis of todays players/ teams and those of old. i dont have much time to subscribe and read them all though.

These Football times is another site i recommend., although its only online articles i think

Curious to see how this all plays out. The European market has come and gone. So apparently Orlando made DC an offer that was rejected. He doesn't want to play for DC. So what will happen is, he will continue at Milan till the end of his contract (which is this summer) and the league lost out on a pretty good 30 year old player.

The problem I have with these 'Discovery Claims' is that teams can hold others hostage with them. Wonder who has a claim in on Zlatan
The transfer window dates don't matter for the Selling team, only for the buying club. Milan can still sell him to MLS if Orlando and DC can come to a resolution.

IIRC the amount is $50K. I also believe in theses cases, now that an offer has been made by Orlando, DCU has to make legitimate contract offers to Nocerino or they'll lose his rights. I'm just not sure of the time span involved.
It's short, something like a week.

Yes. So he can't transfer to a European team. MLS got him by the soccer balls.

MLS states 3 teams are interested in Fernando Torres...but rules state they can't disclose. Also he is on a clubs discovery claim...but they can't disclose. Even though a great deal of rumors never amount to anything, I kind of enjoy it with the other leagues. It helps pass the 'down time' and keeps the sport in the news. MLS is so concerned with eliminating drama and keeping the ownership group in a fuzzy bubble that they can come off as being a bland sport. Most people get wrapped up in the gossip of things. Maybe if MLS wasn't so buttoned up, it would appeal and attract a broader fan base, or at least make it more into the American sports media.

I agree, the offseason drama and story lines makes people check for the God awful Sixers even if it's to point and laugh. Adding that part can only bring more attention to the league and more press.

Harry Shipp to Montreal in a trade. If Drogba stays they're looking dangerous again.

Wow. Figured Chicago would build around Shipp. Seems they're getting allocation money in this trade.
