NYCFC In The Media Thread - 2016

If by "gel" you mean "get harrison, lampard and iraola on the field and in their current roles," then yes. The team has taken time to gel. ;)
The most shocking thing about that is how Lampard is the least important part of the improvement. He's been totally fine to good, but the other changes were much more important.

First off, Iraola has the highest fictional WAR of anyone on the team. This is why I was never on the "let's praise Bravo wildly for anything more than outplaying Andy Jacobsen". Look at how much better Pirlo plays and our defense plays with AI, a guy who "can't defend" or "doesn't care" or "doesn't bring anything to the team".

And then Harrison is more skilled on the ball than anyone except DV/Pirlo, and he runs at people and takes shots and makes crosses.

This isn't insulting Lampard. Just pointing out he's definitely the Mase in this scenario. Shit. Nevermind. Maybe it is a little insulting.

And for you fuckers who don't know who Mase is...

(eta: so Iraola is Biggie, Jack is Puffy. Just think about it. It works)

Thanks, man.

Despite the analogy, it's a wasted opportunity if at Pirlo's eventual retirement, NYCFC don't release a video of Pirlo's highlights to "Big Poppa".

Those pirouettes and through balls set to that. Shit. I need a drink.
eta: link so we can all open this in one window and watch pirlo highlights in another. So click the first link, and on the third lion roar, click the 2nd link and hit mute.

Nice interview with PV by Glenn Crooks. Makes you realize how well PV has done to implement the style that he wants to play and supports the players.

Also, Crooks is part of a NYCFC podcast called "Soccer in the City". Very well done and is a must listen. Add it to your podcast list if you don't have it already.

Yeah, I like Soccer in the City. It could use a bit of editing as they can get off on tangents, but it's still a must listen for big fans of the Club.

Really nice profile of Harrison. With a great pic (below).

Didn't know where else to put this, so I figured this thread was just as good as any other.......

Anybody into card collecting? I haven't been into the hobby in decades and never even knew Topps has them out for MLS.

Looks like they put out a commemorative for Lampard's hat trick and for $9.99 this baby is all yours:

The offer has less than 2 hours to go.
