Center Forward Suggestions

The Funes Mori who's a defender should be invited. I'm sure he can't be that much worse than Gonzo. His bro has 1 cap for ARG already according to wiki. Parker hasn't played with the senior side yet so any info on whether or not we approached him? Holmes should be invited to U- competitions or camps to scout him. I'm sure it may have been done before.

I believe the cap for his bro was a friendly so he isn't cap tied. I may be wrong tho.

They're like 24 by now so I don't think there's any real chance of them being regulars on the Argentina NT. We should definitely talk to them since they seem to be some sort of decent.

They are okay, not national team potential though. Would be cool as depth on this team.

Good potential guys to cap tie are

Shawn Parker, Rogelio Funes Mori, Ramiro Funes Mori, Duane Holmes, and Gedion Zelalem.
Is the thought here to bring any random pseudo-American striker in on the squad?

Not sure how logical that is.

How about over performing minor league forwards or quality MLS bench players.

It's a risk I guess, but I don't see the harm in aquiring one of the afromentioned players, at least on a trial basis. Sometimes these type of players turn out successful, such as lee nguyen.

I realize there is a lot of trust in Euro scouts but most these "American" players have almost no pro experience outside of camp.

I think NYCFC is better off scouting NASL and USL to find Americans. They've at least played competitive pro matches.

So the Funes Mori twins have almost no pro experience outside camp?
Btw I was talking about the NT for a bit. Confused myself too. As far as clubs, they can't be worse than your average mls player.

Agreed that some do have experience, I was talking generalities.

I'm mostly saying except for Liverpool ex-player most would cost a transfer fee, which with a cap NYCFC won't want to pay. MLS players could be signed with allocation funds or draft picks. Most minor league players in the USA sign 1 year contracts so they would be free.

Still, fun to speculate and grab names of lots of mostly unknown Americans-Abroad. It does mean something since approximately 20 of the 30 players need to be Americans or green card holders.

Probably more mileage out of MLS bench players, under-used players and/or the players that will be in the unprotected list come December. Also NASL players from the better teams (Cosmos, Minnesota, Atlanta, Carolina etc).

Some more I would in the US (or green card) forwards department:
Colorado's Danny Mwanga
Houston's Omar Cummings
Montreal's Sanna Nyassi
Minnesota's Christian Ramirez
Atlanta 's Justin Chavez

If we pay the same salary the best NASL players make and they're not ridiculous in terms of MLS, how many of them would deny the opportunity?

Lmao. I, from time to time, read some of the shit the NASL/Cosmos/ProRel fanatics and the delusion and the fact spinning just keeps on getting more and more ridiculous.

Del Piero
Robinho
Dongou
Morata
Santa Cruz
You forgot Francesco Totti. Let's be real here. As of now the only big names in Europe will be players on the verge of retirement. It's not about having a team with chemistry. From a business standpoint NYC FC is looking for players that will draw crowds. Anyway as a cf trequartista ?!? Totti

Totti would be great, yes. Not sure he would come to MLS, but then again Villa and Kaka are coming, so why not!
