Andrea Pirlo [Midfielder]

As of now, is there any reason to think that Pirlo won't start in the match v Orlando City March 5th?

Just want to know before I dump $600 on tickets and hotel.

The only reason I can't see him playing is due to injury.

NickA NickA What the hell ? Today's news is for after the season? This joke is going over my head!

He's going to retire after the season and go back to the motherland. He ended his Juve career with a championship and losing in the CL finals. History says NYCFC will have good year and send him out on a high note.

So we win the Shield and lose in the MLS Cup Final?

Don't ruin my fantasy lol.

How about NJ wins the shield and we win the final? That'll soil their panties.

On r/MLS they're doing a preview of each team. For the Red Bulls the person that wrote it said losing to LA Galaxy while having a lead in MLS Cup would be the worst scenario for their season. I replied that losing to NYCFC in the Eastern Conference Finals who go on to win MLS Cup would be their worst case sceneiro. I got one down vote and replied, the downvotes justify my case. I got downvoted a lot more after that. Salt. (Which surprisingly is not an ingredient in Red Bull. Though I've never drank one so I don't know for sure).

140 mg of sodium per 12 0z. That's nearly 3x the 50mg found in coke.

Is anyone else tired of the jokes about Pirlo?

Like the most interesting man in New York crap?

I'm tired of seeing posts by the team on social media about Andrea going to a broadway show or talking about him like he's a character/stereotypical European renaissance man.

I want to see more about Andrea busting his ass in practice, or how hard he wants to compete. I want to know how hard Andrea Pirlo wants to win a championship.

This is a professional soccer club, not a reality TV show.

End rant.

I wouldn't mind if they were clever.

I've never minded them all that much before now. And even though his performances have not been great, I am still in the camp that thinks Pirlo in our starting XI (with our current roster) is the best option for us at the moment (not saying he's playing super well or anything).

BUT, considering all of the talk about his performance that is not just on here, but across the media in general, I really wish the club would not publish all this crap out there. It really does not have a good look to it. Now if he had 6 assists on the year and banged in two free kick goals, go for it. But the timing at this moment is really poor.

Your love of Pirlo is well documented but I think you may have missed my point.

I have no problem with Pirlo. I have a problem with the way the team has been treating him in the media. It's a distraction to the soccer.

I get levity, but there's a point where joking around is disrespectful. It makes a joke out of the club.

Then tell roxfontaine she has the in with the Top Brass and I suspect feels the same that might help .

If Pirlo's statements about DeRossi a couple days ago are true, he's really tone deaf at this point. I mean, Pirlo is being questioned for being too old and maybe misjudging the physicality and intensity of the league, being dismissive of MLS in one word, which is a stereotype of the old European star, and he apparently goes ahead and calls 33 year-old DeRossi "young" and says he can still make it in a top European league, and should come to MLS in a few years, not now? How is that not dismissive of the league? If he's starting to have an image problem with the fans (and he is) he just made it worse.

Maybe a Pirlo isn't as keen to promote the league if he feels he's being "retired" by the coaching staff/FO.
