Las Vegas Mls Stadium

So you build a stadium to let it sit around and only be used for exhibitions and big cup games? Sounds cost effective... /s

If MGM grand builds it, and sells hotel rooms with game tickets packages, then the guests will spend money in the hotel/casino as well

I agree. They can build the stadium on a platform above the current MGM Grand and have the stadium elevated above the strip with great views. Build video poker terminals into all the seatbacks and have the exit be a twisting water slide that brings people back down to the strip. It should be used only for the US Open Cup final, but exceptions will be made for Beatles and Led Zeppelin reunions if all original members agree to appear.

Good idea Scouse, but I think it would be better if MLS built a stadium in all tourist areas and have a revolving US Open Cup finals host. Las Vegas, Miami, Cancun, Punta Cana, San Diego, Isle of Capri, Malta, Hong Kong, Nassau, Martha's Vineyard (so the President can attend the US Club championship while on Vacation) and maybe a few more. It would be well worth the billions of dollars.

I would love a Vegas MLS team but I'm not sure about the outdoor stadium experience in the summer.

vegas in the summer isnt hot because of the low humidity. theres no sweat because its so hot out. if you go into a pool and then get out, you'll be dry within 3 minutes

ive been there 3 times. twice in the month of july and once in february, granted in february it gets a little cold.
in the summer, yes its hot. like 100 degrees. but it doesnt feel that way. your not constantly sweating. thats because its so hot there, the heat evaportes the sweat, making you feel cooler than it is. the humidity there is like 0. YES las vegas is hot, but it certaintly doesnt feel that way

Yes it does . I've been there many times and often over a 100 in the middle of the night. Watching a game on Saturday night at. 7pm will be a swelter May thru September.

wouldnt the nights feel exceptionally cooler? the reason why the strip feels hot at night is because of all the lights (which is more than a SSS). the las vegas at night is a cool place to be. pun intended

Sorry man but you are up in the night. Vegas is the freaking surface of the sun in the summer day time and is still quite uncomfortable in the evening. And thats off the Strip. In fact I was there this summer and went swimming in a outdoor pool that was probably 85 degrees at best and we dried off the instant we got out.

A Vegas stadium could work but the idea of one in the outdoors and not enclosed just sounds butt-hot in the summer time.

The city council voted down the public funding. Not happening. No MLS in Vegas.

It is not dead and they did not kill it. Not yet they haven't. They actually voted to wait 2 weeks before they finish voting. While in theory they have enough votes (4-3) to pass the resolution they need a super majority (5-2) to issue the bonds the MLS developers want. Not sure that happens but they will have until December to convince/bribe a commissioner.

They delayed the vote because they have 3 no votes and a leaning no vote on a 4th member. The 4th member agreed to delay the vote two weeks but is voting no.

So it's dead.

No it's not. Did you even read the article? If anything the 4th vote is gong to be yes. However they will need 5 yes votes in December and I'm not sure they have it.

There's still a chance just not much of one. Also there's at least one other MLS investor in Vegas (BWin investor).

Yes, no, doesn't really matter right now because we still have Minnesota, Sacramento and San Antonio. All of which would be great additions.

The 4th maybe is now saying no, so its probably dead. Apparently the biggest issue is one of the developers is a sleeze ball that none of the commissioners like. Too bad, Vegas would have been a fun and exciting expansion team.
