Official Seat Selection Discussion

Just bring some crutches and make a big production of getting up so people feel guilty going by you! Just make sure you don't go nuts every 3 minutes when City scores!
Also, the game's will be so intense that you will be on your feet the whole match anyway!

I don't think it's as bad as you might think. I've owned aisle seats for baseball, hockey, and football. Baseball was the worst just by the very casual nature of the game. Hockey was the best because the whole "wait for a whistle" rule is implemented.
Any soccer match I have been to, I have found to be on the less annoying end of the scale in regards to fan movement throughout the game/match. Plus, aisles hold higher resale value when listed as such. Give it a chance, although I am interested in other peoples views as to their aisle soccer experiences.

I had aisle seats for USA/Turkey and it was fairly annoying. I took seats 3-5 in a row of 17, so hoping it won't be too bad.

The only alternative would be to get seats in the middle of the aisle. The problem with that would be that you would then have to get past everyone each time you need to get to or from your seats. Sitting on the aisle you can easily stand up and off into the aisle.

^ Yeah pretty sure on that as well. Unless it was a 30 day period. But ibdont recall anyone selecting after the 20th

can we get some updated screenshots of the stadium if people are still picking?

234 Row 18 is enforcing the whistle/stop of play rule for exiting seats :) We've got seats 14-19, just go the other way....

How so? You're going to self-police? Good luck with that. I hope you and your friends own the whole row, otherwise that's a fight waiting to happen.

Has any word leaked out on how many season tickets have been sold?

A month or two ago they said they had sold 3,000 ACCOUNTs. Assuming 2-3 tickets per account, that 6,000-9,000 tickets. However, I'm sure tickets have sold since then. I would guess they're around the 10,000 ticket range.

Some marketing guy who is involved with a lot of professional sports teams claimed that NYCFC had sold 24,000 tickets. (http://www.reddit.com/r/MLS/comments/2g5dpt/according_to_tim_leiweke_nycfc_has_sold_24000/). Kind of hard to believe. That would mean there was a serious blitz of ticket buyers AFTER the first 3,000 accounts had sold, and I don't know what the catalyst would have been for that besides more clarity on the seat selection process.

I think it might even be higher than the 9K amount.

I don't want to keep beating that proverbial dead horse, but in an another thread somebody took the time to surf into the selection page and list how many seats were still available in each section (my apologies for not remembering who did this and quite honestly I'm too damn lazy to look ;) ).

I quickly added up the numbers and there was roughly somewhere in the neighborhood of 13K+ still available. So I posed the question that if the team announced they were only going to open up Yankee Stadium to something like 27K+ seats can we make the logical conclusion that 14K were sold?

There was some discussion that even though the 27K number was bandied about there would still be seats unavailable in the lower sections of the stadium. Personally I think the 27K is the total with the closed out sections taken into account, because iirc when you eliminate the 400 level YS holds somewhere in the the neighborhood of 33K+. But like all things related newswise to NYCFC, it's a mystery.

Anyhoo, I guess what I'm trying to say in a very long winded way is that even if the team eliminated as many as 4K seats, can we conclude 10K have been sold?

Family section help?

Hi. I'm looking at the family sections. I have a ten year old and 12 yr old. We will have three seats. On the aisle. Closer to the field seems good, but we also like seeing the big picture - so the 200 level is also intriguing. Any suggestions or thoughts? Many thanks.

Just to clarify, that marketing guy is Tim Lieweke. The guy who was with AEG running the Galaxy and brought in David Beckham. He is now in charge of Toronto FC (and the Toronto NBA/NHL clubs) so he is deeply involved in MLS.

I took section 229 for my family. my kids are a little older and most likely way more jaded.
went to a yankee game and checked them out really nice close to the field (we got row 8) and you want the 200 level at this stadium
