I believe Portland has his rights. Someone tried signing him but failed. I think it was Portland and they still hold discovery rights, but who knows with MLS.

I think Joe Gyau would be perfect for this squad. Villa on the left, Nacho up top and Gyau on the right.
Discovery rights have to be one of the most idiotic rules I've ever heard of in sports. I really hope that is the next thing they dump.

Are his rights controlled by the discovery rules, the USMNT player rules or the NASL/USL rules? Or a blind draw? Single entity is really, really dumb

As MLS gets new fans, and specifically if sports networks start covering it more seriously, it is going to be torn to shreds for the single entity.

A team who has no shot at signing a DP can put a discovery tag on him in order to get compensation from a club that can sign him?

Yes. That is completely moronic. Why should a team be able to claim a player they literally have no intention of ever signing? It's just counterproductive for the league as a whole.

I think MLS thinks that there are people who are fans not of a particular team but of MLS as an entity. Power breeds arrogance.

Everything about their new brand re-launch speaks to the opposite. They're trying to get the league identity out of the way because the teams are the primary touch-point with fans.

That said, I'm probably in the minority on this one but I am a fan of the MLS. Each weekend I'm looking for good games around the league, and pull for MLS squads in the CCL and other matches (friendly or otherwise) against talent from outside the league to show that our teams can play with the best of them.

Ok - here it is. The way out there never going to happen sports movie rivalry transfer scenario:

Thierry Henry does not retire this season. Instead, he plays one more year in MLS, is picked up by NYCFC after the contract with RBNJ expires, and wins his first and only MLS Cup in 2015.

C'est isi New York City!

Now that it is being reported that #14 is in his final days in Harrison, NJ - anyone want to revisit this crazy prediction scenario of mine? Would loveeeee to see Henry win his only MLS Cup in NYCFC Blue!

That would be a dagger to the RB shills. Sign him for 250k.

Orlando has been interested in Ibarra.

Gyau would be great, but he is competing for first team minutes in Dortmund.
if I you told me that he would be getting first team action in Dortmund a couple months ago I would have thought you were out your mind.

If possible, junior flores coming here would be amazing. I saw him play for the youth team and he left me with my jaw to the ground.

side note.....how awesome would this potential team look as a national team in a couple of years?

Green-------Parker---------Gyau
------Rubin------Zelelam------

Toljan----------------------------Yedlin

Question: if Ibarra is called up to the national team doesn't that make him a USMNT player? If that's the case wouldn't he be subject to USMNT/former MLS player allocation?

First he actually has to play and I'm not sure a friendly actually cap ties you.

Friendlies do not cap tie you.

He would only be subject to that if he is a free agent. If you have a discovery claim on him and send enough allocation, then u are able to sign him.

Agudelo is MLS proven, from the area. He would be really dangerous up top. When he was with the revs, he was really fantastic.

Mix hasnt played in MLS but with the USMNT he has looked great, a real generator of chances.

I like both a lot, hopefully we get one!

Not a huge Agudelo fan. Would have to be a DP. Meh
