NYCFC Confirm Departure of PV. Nice Confirm Arrival of PV as Manager.

Unrelated, LAG may be canning Sigi soon (they look terrible still), I wonder if they open up the books for Arsene

If Vieira thinks he can be the manager for Arsenal after today, then I can be the CEO for Goldman Sachs.

Not to cross post, but I'm amazed that she had no problem asking him this question in a full kit wanker outfit they just gave her.

Can you imagine someone claiming to be a journalist interviewing Trump wearing a MAGA hat?

Journalism lives!

She’s a total professional and really gotten better since going to Barstool and having more content creation ability.

Yeah, the ethics of taking this invitation when you actively cover the team and sport is a little shaky.

Is it though? The Media get food in the press box when covering matches. Granted, some meals at certain stadiums have been rather plebeian compared to others, but I don't think it affects coverage provided. I'd wager that the national media folk that attended this have been provided gear at every teams' venue they've covered (the local guys are probably stoked at this one-off opportunity), so it's really not an arms race except that maybe some of the media folk engage in trading items (I've got an LAFC pair of shorts I'll give you for your ATL socks).

I'm not worried if JSB wears an NYCFC jersey when covering our training facility and an LAFC jersey when covering theirs, but I'd be very flummoxed if she wore an ATL jersey when next NYCFC plays ATL (especially if at YS).

Media members have to pay for the media meal at Yankee Stadium. Also at most other stadiums/arenas in the US. That's how they get around the ethical thing. The media meal is there for convienance because of how much work needs to be done, it's not menat as a free handout from the team to the writers.

Were writers told they have to write positively about the experience in exchange? I don't know, but maybe. And just asking that question means their integrity has been compromised.

This isn't just a criticism of JSB, it's a criticism of everyone who attended. Attending the event, getting a tour is one thing. Having an experience like being trained by the coaching staff? That's excessive and any self-respecting media member should have turned it down.

Didn't realize media have to pay for their meals at stadiums.

I saw Katie Witham of Fox Sports wearing the Timbers Parley jerseys outside the stadium after the game. Don't know if she wore it on the broadcast. Told her the jersey looks nice. Should have asked if she'd wear an NYCFC one if we were the home team.

I think I generally agree with you here, except for maybe some media members (I'm not certain who all attended and who this would apply to).

The example I'm thinking of is the Kenny Mayne type, where they do stories or segments on these types of fun events and that's the reason they are attending. Those in the Crooks and JSB crowd whose responsibilities are to report non-biased views of the club, however, is a bit different.

That said, I'm sure those such as Crooks and JSB (I don't know them so I'm not certain on this, but using it as an example) are able to put aside slight biases that events such as this may provide, however, from a perception standpoint, it does not help.

JSB entirely works for Barstool now too, I don't think she is affiliated with ESPN in anyway anymore. That is the type of content Barstool makes especially as they are really lacking in soccer. See no problem at all with JSB doing the training sessions. I can see a problem if she was still a national sideline reporter how she was, but she isn't. Barstool barely even does soccer, so if she can improve their content there with training sessions with my favorite team, I will take it as an added bonus.

Yes, agree with everything you wrote. Someone doing a feature is fair game for an event like that -- completely agree with you there.

Let me clear, I am sure Glenn can put those slight biases aside -- that's not my concern. He's a professional, and that's his job. My concern is the perception that he's bought and paid for because he participated in something like this.

Don't all the Yankees and Red Sox media members have an annual baseball game? I'd say getting to play a game in one or both of those parks is a better perk than going out to Westchester to see a gym and get a jersey.

This is nothing, and I'm pretty sure most teams do something along the lines of this with their media.
