2018 Roster Discussion

Do Israeli players have problems everywhere? I always seem to encounter a sense of disdain whenever I get involved in a conversation involving Israel, even if it's not a political conversation.
I'd fear some nonsense at our games going down, it only takes a few people to cause a scene.

Anyway this may be getting too far off-topic so sorry for taking this tangent.

Celtic supporters have for a long time sympathized with the plight of everyday Palestinians. Many Catholic Celtic supporters view themselves as refugees dating back to the 1850s. There are similarities between what GB did to Catholics in Ireland and what Israel is doing to Palestinians.

Celtic supporters embarrass themselves when they go after Nir. He's not Netanyahu. It's unfair. I say this as a Celtic supporter.

The UAE and Israel currently do have diplomatic ties though unofficial. It's also mostly an enemy of my enemy situation with Iran.

One of the many weird side effects of the Trump World Order and his kleptocracy is that he attracts like minded people. Unfortunately, it would appear that our overlords are of a similar mindset - or at least willing to play ball.

Is it bad I had to zoom in on the NYCFC kid to make sure it wasn't Maxi?

With Herrera likely out long term, and Ofori still slow to adjust, the team really needs to explore options for a midfielder during the summer window. Perhaps it is clouded by the USOC fiasco, but what seemed like depth now seems like a shortcoming.

For someone more familiar with the rules - at the summer window is there any chance of paying down Maxi or Medina and signing a DP, or will the search be limited to a reinvestment of Harrison money?

He isn't an 8, but any chance of stealing Piatti?

We have the same conversation regarding buying a DP down to bring in another about every 2 weeks here and despite all our wishes the general consensus by those better versed in the MLS roster rules than me we have no way to do it. So being that Piatti makes something like $6M unless they want to take Medina in exchange for him it's likely not an option.

The upside is we do see to have a considerable amount of TAM and GAM to spend so it's still possible for us to get a very good player or two to fill some of our gaps.

I have to agree, not just because he's Peruvian, but he's the kind of guy who has always been overlooked because of his height, but he's quite the bully inside the 18 and always performs and scores in bunches. Finally, after being the top scorer, or close to, in Liga MX for 2 years, he's getting some love. My suspicion would be SKC if they have a DP spot.
