soooooo ... this album ... super interesting ... to Pimp a butterfly. Most people I know who I've talked to have sort of dismissed it.

So I have given it two listens - pretty impressed. I mean it's not a poppy hip hop album at all. It is very jazzy, has a lot of different vibes and a definite story to tell.

The first 3 ish songs which are super funky and george clintony (he's on the album) are kind of throwaway to me (except for the basslines) Then he starts the rest of the songs with a line or two from a poem. From this point the album takes off for me.

All in all it's really good. I've definitely enjoyed it. It's very odd. I'm going to give it another round or two ... anyone else?

I've been listening to it every morning since it came out and as usual with Kendrick albums/mixtapes I love it more and more as I get through it. The funk, jazz, spoken word vibes he throws out there are just amazing. This guy is the KING.

I've been slacking as well. I've been bumping Earl Sweatshirt's new album, gotta give this a listen too

So I've been doing a bunch of traveling and didn't put the album on my saved list for spotify - so I haven't been giving it it's deserved listening time - that being said I'm in a wifi world now and have gone through the album 3 more times - it's literally fan tastic - the songs/lines that initially made me cringe (My dick ain't free) have come into view as a whole - this kid is super smart.

This album is definitely not for everyone - I know plenty of hip hop heads who are hating it - but I'm all in - Album of the young year so far for me -

I'll give the new Earl a listen - thanks for the recommendation - I had been meaning to listen haven't yet.

i highly reccoment run the jewels 1 and 2.

RTJ is the absolute tits ... and I don't like saying that because it's sexist - but seriously ... the tits

Also Killer Mike's R.A.P. Music album is stellar. Also any footage of him talking about Ferguson on the internet - worth a watch/listen no matter your side on the issue.

but back to the kendrick album - anyone have some favorite tracks?

I dig the u song with bilal,
complexion, and of course the killer mike repping - hood politics ...

"Critics want to mention that they miss when hip-hop was rappin'/Motherfucker, if you did, then Killer mike would be platinum"

like what i did there all the loose ends
