Same Boring Frank Lampard Thread 2.0

His intent to be here? Come on dude, now you're just drinking the Kool-Aid. If he wanted to support the team and intended to be here, he would have been with the team on Jan 1.

I'm all for being optimistic, but he doesn't get a free pass for what he's done. He screwed us, plain and simple.

He clearly has an "intent to be here" this summer, which is why he is househunting and meeting his new teammates.

This is why I am gonna take a flier and say that he is here to stay and play now!!!! He knows he screwed up as does City Group. If he does a "stealth" joining of the team it will prevent alot of ill will from building up then normally would have as the original time to join the team approaches. It's already significant....... Plus, we have ALOT of guys out this week due to injury, suspension and national team callups..................Just a long shot guess but wanted to go on record so you can say you heard it here first!!!! ;););)

Wait a second, you're saying you think Lampard PLAYS this weekend against SKC??? That would be a shock for sure! I mean, as wonderful and rosy as that sounds, he hasn't even practiced with the squad once and you think Kreis throws him out there? If that happens, it would be nothing more than marketing and PR.

*Music is either Weird Al's "Eat it" or Sir Mixalot's "Baby Got Back"

Good for Lampard, I thought he was a complete jerk who didn't care at all about MLS or NYCFC.

Susan Waldman is now announcing NYC matches too?

The cynic in me says Lampard is getting a vacation to America and stopping in at NYCFC in an attempt to save face.
After everything that has happened I don't think Lampard cares about the MLS, NYCFC, or anything other than himself.. Which is fine because a lot of people are motivated by self interest.. He just shouldn't act like he cares about anything other than himself, because he clearly doesn't.

You guys think he will be in one of the nice executive seats looking at the game and during halftime we get a close up shot of him introducing him to the fans?

I feel that's all it be, that band be with the team behind closed doors

We definitely need him this week, but I doubt he is here to play. I also doubt he comes early. I don't have faith in any of them to do the logical thing.

Why does everyone on this message board still think this team is a priority to CFG? If we were Lampard would have been here from day 1. Right now he really has no role or use for MCFC, yet still wont be sent to NYCFC.

NYCFC really lacks talented players yet the mothership continues to ignore this by keeping him rotting on the bench for a club that is out of contention for prettty much everything.

Dude, we know you're a red bull fan. Why are you still here?

Man City are not out of contention. They are 6 points behind Chelsea, who have a game in hand. But Chelsea still have to play Man United, Arsenal (away), and Liverpool. Chelsea could drop points in, or even lose, any of those games. Meanwhile, the only tough games that Man City face are the Manchester derby (away) and away to Spurs. So City are not out of the title race yet.

Furthermore, they are only one point ahead of third-place Arsenal and two ahead of fourth-place Man United. Third place gets a team an automatic berth in the Champions League group stage, while a fourth-place finisher must go to a playoff round. So every point still matters to Man City.

That said, part of me hopes that they do agree to let Lampard go early. His lack of playing time might mean that he could be in the NYCFC lineup rather soon after he'd leave Man City.

On the other hand, he's been in daily training all of the Premier League season; so, if he came in the next few weeks and began playing here, chances are that he'd start to fatigue when we'd need him most, during the meaningful part of the season.

In the end, perhaps we're best off to leave it as his joining the team in August after a break, so he can be at his strongest when it counts most.

Pictures of frank arriving in New York just been published in today's daily mail.
Sorry don't know how to post a link

See I have trouble really being mad at him because I honestly believe that the vast majority of professional athletes operate almost entirely out of self interest. They care about getting paid and a lot have competitive streaks so they do try hard and care about winning once their out there playing (not to mention playing good can mean more money) but the idea that most of them care if their out their in a New York shirt, or a Chicago shirt or Manchester or Paris etc. in the same way us supporters care about our specific clubs, cities, etc. is pretty much fantasy land IMO.

Guys (and this is a reaction to last night's posts, not this morning's), I know that the issues are intrinsically linked but I'm just going to give a brief warning to keep this discussion restricted to Frank and his trip to NYC or this thread is getting moved to do a different subforum too. We already have a thread for discussing why Frank is wherever he is, and this subforum has had enough MCFC discussion to last a lifetime.

I don't know how you can talk about Lampard being here without discussing the possibility that he might come early and I don't know how you can discuss that intelligently without also discussing the position Manchester City find themselves in order to gauge the likelihood that Manchester City would agree to allow Lampard out of his contract early. If NYCFC had signed Gerrard and Gerrard came to visit with the same rumors, we would be discussing Liverpool's situation.
