Nevada Smiths In Trouble.

I'm guessing the loan was for moving, no? The place used to be so tiny, now it's a massive three floor abomination. And they're not the only game in town like they used to be so I'm not too surprised.

As long as they dont go under Ill be happy. Ill of course help contribute to help this worthy cause by buying an extra pint every time im there.

The place is way too big now, and as others have said it's not the only game in town. It's hard to have a huge building for such a niche purpose. I've never really heard of anyone going to Nevada Smiths for any reason other than watching soccer. They show a lot of games but it's hard to sustain a massive, multi-floor bar based on soccer alone. Especially when there are other options all over the place.

Nevada Smiths was the first "soccer bar" I frequented in NYC just because it was the place and the novelty of it was fun for a while. But eventually I just wanted bars that were either less crowded, closer to my apartment or more narrowly focused (team-specific bars).

I went back last year after the renovation and I really couldn't believe how big it was. Not sure how they thought it was a good idea with more options popping up all the time.

It was nice before renovations before 2010. Magical place during the knockout match against Ghana. Now it looks like a poor attempt at a lounge pretending to be a soccer bar.

It's lost it's touch and perhaps also has lost the plot. Shame.

I can only imagine how much the mortgage or rent is in that part of Manhattan.

and how much they'd have to take in every week just to keep the lights on?
