New SSS gotta have:

GA supporter section. Make the supporter section closed off to thevrest of the stadium.

Beer diversity. Have 100+ beers on tap.

Having our own version of BVB's Yellow wall would be awesome. hopefully by the time the stadium is built rail seating really catches on would be very unique for us. Also don't want to many gimmicks in the stadium, just a place where we go watch a great team with a great view from every seat. Some of the best stadiums are simple. I don,t need an outdoor bar like San Jose or a bar the length of the entire pitch like ATL give me a stand with variety close to my seat and make sure my cup is full when i get to the counter and lets watch the game from the rails.

If we had San Jose's weather, I'd love San Jose's bar, but as things stand in old NYC, it would be just one more looooong surface to shovel...The drinks would be cold, though.

We'll cross that bridge when we get to it. In the meantime go back to your red bull barrel.

I support all New York soccer area teams. However, NYCFC doesn't seem to be making any movement on an actual stadium plan. We are going on year 2 and it seems like we are no where even close to a plan or location.

While the home opener, which I attended, was well attended and similar to the Metrostars opener, I fear that it will be a NYC team in name only while playing in NJ or some other suburb. Honestly at this point an actual Soccer specific stadium next to Metlife and with access to NJ transit would be better than Yankee Stadium.

Awesome. Now go back to metro fanatic or w.e the cosmos rathole equivalent is. You probably also thought this team wouldn't be popular because people in bars told you so.

Let's imagine they realize they hit a wall in the stadium search and they and the Yankees agree to share the stadium for an extended period of time (7+ years) while they actively but patiently search for the right stadium location. Does anyone think they may make any significant investment into Yankee Stadium to improve the soccer experience?
Maybe a temporary and removable block of seating along the sideline on the TV side in a way similar to Candlestick did it. Put the temp stands from the sideline straight up to the 200 level terrace seating all the way across to the batter's eye area.

Sure it would't be perfect, but if this is going to be a long haul project, it may be worth the iinvestment. Not only would it create some high value seats right along the touchline, it would greatly improve the TV presentation and probably the overall atmosphere of the stadium!

I know it's a pretty speculative assumption to even imagine that the Yankees would allow this, but it's certainly not impossible. No matter how much the players complain, if the Yankees are making a nice bit of coin, they will be allow it.

I agree, it is not impossible. I just find it unlikely. I personally would not mind staying at the stadium until a SSS is built in the city.

I've seen people suggesting that it could be worthwhile to wait some years to find a suitable space for the SSS, but overall, time is not on our side. Suitable locations are more likely to be taken and developed by other entities over time more than new spots are going to open up. Now the club could get lucky because some near-perfect and currently unavailable parcel goes on the market, but I think the team really needs to focus on the locations that are currently available. That could still take time getting a deal done, plus CB, Agency, and other government approvals. But I doubt just waiting for something better to show up is likely to work.

I am still willing to bet that something gets done (how soon I don't know) in the Yankee Stadium area. Too perfect in regards to transportation, etc..... Politics and money will converge at some point.....;)

Agree. I think they will work that out over time.

How exactly did it get scuttled in the first place?

Not an expert on this subject but in part it had to do with the requirement to replace park space that the SSS would use and unrealistic demands by local politicians regarding the publics use of the facility/stadium. We shall see.......
