Parking/ Tailgating So Far

A few random thoughts.

The lots at 161st Street and 153rd Street both have roof decks, are a short walk to the stadium and easy in/out to the Deegan. They are a bit pricey at $35.

The Rupert Plaza Garage has that big turf field on the roof, which would be great for pre-game kicks, but probably wouldn't permit grilling. Wonder if anyone knows for sure. It is closest to the stadium is relatively easy in/out, and also $35.

The Harlem River lots are open, cheaper at $25, and a little farther away.

Finally, there is another lot, that is not part of the Quik Park monopoly. It is located just north of McClellan Street on the satellite photo above. It is across the street from the John Mullaly Park and only $18. Not that easy to get in/out, however.

I've had friends who go to yankee games tell me they tailgate in a lot by "the hill" it seems to be located by the Mullay park, maybe that's the same $ 18 lot.

I'll be going to the Mets game sunday ( where I know exactly where I'll be grillin n chillin ) for everyone who's going to try tailgating at yankee stadium, let us know how it goes. :)

Here is a map of the parking areas that include traffic patterns. I've also included a satellite view of the area.

If you look at that map. I've been told the 151st St north lot is the best for tailgating. Already have plans to take train this match. But I plan to try and tailgate there and next real opportunity is May 30th vs the Dynamo. Unless any of you have a better place, I'll gladly meet there instead.

If the 151st lot is part of quikparking system, its not showing as available for the matches I checked.

Well we have a month to figure it out. If anyone has luck tomorrow let me know. I'm happy to go where we know we won't be bothered.

I checked on one of the Yankee boards, and they said pretty much everywhere is okay, so long as you are discreet. That means keep the drinks in solo cups and don't use charcoal.

Gas grills, ugh...

Dynamo supporter here (please don't kill me, my girlfriend and I are huge David Villa fans) and am coming in for the match on 5/30. Would love to be able to chill and grill before the game, but based on what I've read, tailgating at this venue seems uncertain at best. I've read all the posts on this thread, but haven't seen anything solid or specific. Any updated info on good lots to bust out the grill and brews (in solo cups of course)?

No worries as long as you're not here to troll no one cares and will be "mostly" respectful.

If you read the several posts above yours there's a couple of lots that look like they're ok with tailgating. I have never personally tailgated at Yankee Stadium but I do know people who have. I usually take mass transit to the games and go to a bar in midtown around Penn or go directly to the Bronx and go to a bar close to the stadium.

Thank you for your response. I think I'm going to play it safe and eat and drink at local establishments before the game or take your suggestion and go to a bar in midtown. Hopefully we get to see a great match on Saturday and good luck to ya.

I'm going to be getting to the game close to game time, so I picked the 161st garage this time. I think any of the open parking lots will work for tailgating, the harlem river lots, the parking lot across from Mullaly park on Jerome. Whichever way you go, enjoy the the game.

Thanks Rand, I appreciate your input. I went ahead and purchased my parking pass for the 161st St garage. Gonna get there a few hours early and right now it is looking like Hard Rock will be where I hunker down before the game. That is subject to change, but if you swing by and see a guy in orange, feel free to say hi and have a beer.

Hard Rock? meh. Overpriced and artificial. Get out and meet your supporter brethren at the local pubs all within a one block walk fron the Stadium: The Dugout, Yankee Bar & Grill, Yankee Tavern & Billy's. Go bar hopping and you'll have a blast and get copious amounts of ball busting and much cheaper drinks. Enjoy

Yeah, I kind of just counted on overpaying for drinks and food anyhow and I know what the Hard Rock is about. I'm not necessarily thrilled about that option, but it seemed like they have the best beer selection in the area. Kind of turned off on the idea of bars so heavily geared towards the Yankees for my soccer pre-game warm up.
