Recently TTR had elections and I found on Sunday August 1st that a new president been elected: Rox Fontaine. I am posting this info, just in case it has been overlooked by any one interested and to respond to some allegations of racism in the SG, which I strongly disagree.

Over a month ago I met Rox and and in casual conversation mentioned my discontent with TTR : Lack of response to email inquiries , which he agreed that it
should be addressed and corrected and he casually said he knew some of the members and he would bring it to their attention. At that time had no idea he was a member. I have watched the last 3 home games with Rox , his lovely, beautiful companion and 2 other wonderful friends I have made in the Delta 360 section. This past Sunday I missed his energetic, enthusiastic no hold barred passionate presence at the stadium. He chants and yells at referees and celebrates the goals that you have to join him too.
When I, enquired where he was, I was told that he was the newly elected president with over 90% votes. and as president he was in the supporters section.

We are going to miss you Mr. President @ the Delta. You have big job to do; convince fans and forum members of the credibility and commitment of the support group. I wish you the best and once again Congrats!

Our wonderful country is living proof that a black man being elected President does not mean racism doesn't exist...

I think there's a meeting coming up next week perhaps. You could go and get all your questions answered. There's also people at Billy's before matches if you can stand the volume of the music, or you could stop by the supporters section at the match as there's loads of people there. Might be a bit crazy there during the match but beforehand might work. There's also Third Rail online forums as well, links on the web site.

Today the 3rd Rail meeting took place at Nevada Smith: this is my report for any other member that may be interested and could not attend. The newly elected board is working hard to make a few big and small changes. it will not be major or disruptive changes; for instances clarifying some rules that are not clear or confusing regarding dues, lapses in membership and how to best manage funds;to have a better organized committees to address members questions and issues; Most importantly reviewing that all is in legal order and that takes time because of legal technicalities
In closing R roxfontaine wholeheartedly, addressed members disenchantment and frustration of not being able to fully enhance and passionately embrace fan experiences (use of drums, banners smoke bombs that YS and the NYCFC management are not allowing in the stadium)
Smoke bombs are being smuggled in and absolute Not allowed and 3rd Rail members are not doing it , yet the organization is being held responsible for it since it is the only recognized support group by MLS and this affects all fans because NYCFC management will not permit activities with the team and players to be actively engaged with the fans and the support group. Rox asked all members to fully cooperate on this issue

PS: I am glad to report that the bathrooms in the third floor had all working locks; :)

does anyone here cop to bring in / setting off smoke bombs in YS? or are these folks on the down low? if you look on instagram, it feels as if it's a normal thing?

Thanks for the recap, TabascoDiva TabascoDiva. I'm glad that you found value in the meeting.

I may be the only person who is wondering about this, but was the subject of The Inflatable Penis brought up? If not, why not?

While that specific inflatable was not brought up, another one was. I recommend checking the periscope of the meeting to hear for yourself.

I am quite sure you are not the only one wondering. Lol , In honesty I did wonder but looking at it through the silliness and comedic moment of the action and did not asked 'cause I had not seen it. Come to next meeting and join the SG

I personally think its ok, and fun but as a group however in this age of terrorism YS/MLS management are looking after their best financial interest and the welfare of public safety. Whom we should blame is the terrorist and their idealogy.

Maybe in some extremely attenuated sense, but I think the average interaction with fan vs. Securitas -- not just for smoke, which I am not condoning, but people who have been tossed out for other things like waving pride flags, for example -- seems more like a parent or school principal saying "I'm the parent, that's why" or "I'm the principal, that's why" to justify rules & punishments, rather than articulating any purpose or reason why that's the case. Andres Emilio Soto touches on this in his interview with NYCFC spiderman in his podcast from July (listen beginning around 12 min).

FWIW, similar to what he (spiderman) describes in the podcast, I happened to sees the return of spiderman last game (I normally sit in 236 but was sitting in 237 with a friend), and even though he wasn't wearing the mask during the game, he put it on for maybe 10 seconds to take a photo with some folks who requested a photo during half time, and was told by a Securitas employee 'you put that on again and you're gone' or something to that effect. The logic, to the extent that there is any, is I imagine something akin to New York's anti-mask law (Penal Law § 240.35(4)), where the intended purpose is to 'deter violence' and make it easier to 'apprehend wrongdoers' (the law has an interesting/checkered history that I won't go into here). But in this case Securitas has already acknowledged that they know who spiderman is, and that he is being watched, which would suggest that the purpose of the rule isn't being served.

In some ways none of that matters though. We're dealing with a source of authority on privately owned property. There's no discussing the rules, you either follow them or get removed. I agree with you that it's silly, but that's also the way it is. So when people say "it's just a flag" or "it's just a little smoke" it just doesn't matter.

Not saying I support any of this. It's just the way it is.

RULES FOR SSS: NO Securitas or Police IN the Supporter Section. Maybe some personnel outside the section or on the field, but none in like in YS

Securitas and police in SS (and other sections) weren't there the first couple of games of the year. They appeared when the fans insisted on breaking the rules. Now, I'm a rule breaker by nature. But I don't believe in breaking rules regardless of consequence and regardless of validity or rationale for the rules.

Agreed. Once the smoke stops things will lighten up. As long as smoke bombs keep going off there'll only be more and more restrictions. Personally I love the smoke, but it has to stop. People object to having security and police in the section? What happens when they start flooding the area with plainclothes officers and people start getting arrested and banned for smoke? It's not going to be pretty.

Also, the past few games people have been "celebrating" goals by throwing beers all over the crowd. Not helping.
