2017 Forum H2H League & Pigeon Cup

If we did 3 divisions: High priced, Entry Priced and Free. What would you like to pay?

  • $100 - high priced

  • $75 - high priced

  • $50 - high priced

  • $25 - entry priced

  • $20 - entry priced

  • Free - lower division

Results are only viewable after voting.
So the Cup is actually like Champions League with groups and then a tournament?

Or since we have 16 teams now will it just be a straight tournament? Home and away legs until the final? Single match for all?

I'll figure that out over the next couple of weeks. But I like adding in group play.

shit i havent been keeping up with the forum as much my bad

Sorry, tagged you in the beginning. Maybe we do a half season league in 10-15 weeks if enough people are interested.

Partly to brag about myself, congrats to Joshua Sabo (Khiry's Magic Boots) for ending my lossless streak at 10 straight games. Josh is first in total points and is now just one point off first in the standings. Shit.

I lost my two forum league matches by a combined 6 points, arguably because Wallace left early for the International break. CR is now my enemy.

Proposed Pigeon Cup Format

18 Elite Teams + 2 Strong Supporter Teams who ever made transfers this season = 20 teams.

4 Groups of 5 Seeded like this:

Group 1 Group 2 Group 3 Group 4
1 2 3 4 (1)
8 7 6 5 (2)
9 10 11 12 (3)
16 15 14 13 (4)
17 18 SS1 SS2 (5)

Group Play = Round 1 (1) v (4), (2) v (3), (5 bye)
Round 2 (3) v (1), (4) v (5), (2 bye)
Round 3 (5) v (3), (4) v (2), (3 bye)
Round 4 (2) v (5), (3) v (4), (1 bye)
Round 5 (4) v (2), (5) v (1), (4 bye)

Group Winners decided by W/L record with total points tiebreaker

Top 2 in each group advance. Winners of each group seeded 1-4 by W/L record with total points tiebreaker. 2nd Place teams seeded 5-8 same way.

Final 8 in straight head to head quarterfinals knockout tournament 1 v 8, 2 v 7, etc.

If strong supporter wins Pigeon Cup they don't get prize. Money stays in the pot but can be used by the winner for credit in entry into elite leagues in future years.

I want other folks to decide timing of the tournament ( what week seeding takes place, group play weeks, knockout weeks). My preference is that we finish by week 30-32. The last couple of weeks can be really tricky with playoff resting. I can track the tournament and post like Adam did last year. If someone else can figure out what the prizes will be that would be great. There was a proposal for prizes when we had 16 players, but not 18. I don't want to be involved in that either.

EDIT: The format for the groups isn't as clear in the post as when its on my screen. Hopefully everyone can figure out what I mean.

I vote in favor of the format and suggest we start next week.

Total Pot = $1,350 (18*$75)
League Winner gets $650
Top Cup finish among $$ pot contributors gets $400*
League Second Place gets $200
League Third Place gets $100

* If somehow no money league contributor makes the Cup semis (not possible under Sabo's format proposed above but just in case), then the $400 is distributed among 1, 2, and 3 in the league ($800, $350, $200). I can't see giving somebody $400 for finishing 5th in the cup.

Ok ok ok. I'm actually still working right now. I have to take my 5 year old daughter to prom tomorrow after work (rediculous, but cute as hell). If she goes to bed at a normal hour after prom and I don't have any work waiting I'll try to put that format together. I'd actually like to catch up with work and enjoy a few hours Wednesday night in NJ.

Anybody else think Garbowski is eager to knock me out of the Cup?
