What a choke job. I had a tremendous grip on first place four weeks ago. Three straight losses, and I fell to fourth. FML.

No. Choking is having a chance to go 2 games up on everyone else and switching your captain from Villa to Giovinco at the last minute because of how hard it was raining.

Khiry's Wet Boots vs. Okoli Dokoli was a big time match-up this past weekend.

Sabo Sabo Was hoping (sorry) someone would sneak up on you, way too early in the season for you the break-away from the pack :D

Okoli Dokoli must have beaten a lot of the "bye week" teams so far to be in second with that overall point total ;)

It's more like big losses and small wins. I've beaten 3 of the 4 top 5 teams that aren't me, which has to count for something...

On the flip side, I started out the season 1-5 and have since gone 8-1.

Of course now that I've pointed this out, I'm sure to lose here on out.

Any idea WHEN the Pigeon Cup will start?
I am going on vacation next week and its easier for me when I am at my PC at work. Unless Adam says otherwise I was thinking Week 20 (7/19 games) through 27.

adam adam you're bringing down the league scoring average buddy! Also a note to everyone that another round starts tomorrow, rosters locked at 7.

PIGEON CUP 2017 starts July 19th.

Everybody who has given up trying to catch Okoli, Chaos and Khiry for one of the regular season league prizes can still win the Pigeon Cup Grand Prize of $400.

There are 4 groups of 5 teams. Top 2 finishers in each group advance to the knockout quarterfinals. If you want to know how the groups were formed look at my 6/12 post.

The Pools and round-by-round matchups are attached.

Every week I will update the standings.

I didn't captain villa this week and I almost could win, but probably won't; FML. And screw Sam for not putting me out of my misery earlier. I hate watching late into the day if I pull out the win.

PIGEON CUP ROUND 1

Pool 1 is looking like the most competitive group with all 5 teams getting more than 100 points. It also featured the closest match with my own Khiry's Boots eking out a 6 point win over Quicksilva

Pool 1

Khiry 3 pts (132)
Soup 3 pts (124)
Quicksilva 0 (126)
Cerulean 0 (121)
Ditmas 0 (105)

Pool 2 is competitive now that Adam has awaken from the fantasy dead with a close 10 point loss to Malinska. Soccer Chaos has opened a big lead with 3 points and a 31 point lead on the tiebreaker.

Pool 2

Chaos 3 pts (140)
Malinska 3 (107)
View 0 (109)
Camo 0 (97)
San Antonio 0 (76)

No close matches in Pool 3 this week, but as in real life, Okoli is beating Khiry 1 v 1 every time and keeping the regular standings very close.

Pool 3

Okoli 3 pts (140)
3 Piece 3 (115)
Harlow 0 (119)
Forums 0 (87)
MRSA 0 (65)

Pool 4

Blowouts all around in Pool 4 this week. Will Ring and Sam waltz into the knockout round?

Sam 3 pts (116)
Ring 3 (114)
Shits 0 (87)
Rockers 0 (82)
Orlando 0 (81)

Round 2 starts Wednesday night. By coincidence, the winners from each head to head in Round 1 are facing each other in Round 2 -- that means the standings will be close in every group at the end of Round 2.

PIGEON CUP ROUND 2 GROUP STAGE

Pool 1 -- For the second week in a row my own Khiry's Boots squeaked (chirped?) out a win, this time 96-91 over Soup in NYC. Garbowski's Actually Cerulean came off a bye week with a massive 3 points over Quicksilva to move into 2nd place with a game in hand over Khiry and 3rd place Soup. Ultra-competitive Pool 1 has more teams over 200 points than the rest of the Cup combined.

Khiry 6pts (228)
Cerulean 3pts (220)
Soup 3pts (215)
Quicksilva 0pts (168)
Ditmas 0pts (152)

Pool 2 -- Soccer Chaos had another massive win and claims the overall number 1 seed in the Pigeon Cup. San Antonio got the 3 points from View from 226, but the knockout spot is up for grabs in this Pool with the 2 teams with zero points holding the tiebreaker of total points over the teams with 3 points.

Chaos 6pts (236)
Malinska 3pts (154)
San Antonio 3pts (149)
Camo Hat 0pts (164)
View 0pts (159)

Pool 3 -- 3 Piece Suit Ultras put themselves in a great position to advance with a second straight win over top seeded Okoli Dokoli. Dan moved into contention with a win over Harlow -- who has the most tiebreaker points of any team with zero after the second round.

3 Piece Suit 6pts (217)
Okoli 3pts (183)
NYCFC Forums 3pts (180)
Harlow 0pts (197)
FC MRSA 0pts (103)

Pool 4 -- Its looking like everyone who comes in 3rd place in Pools 1-3 is going to wish they were in Pool 4. Sam's Sandwich is in the driver seat with 2 wins after a massive 69-52 win over Put a Ring on It. Orlando Red moved into 3rd with a very narrow 53-50 win over Midas' team Das Shits.

Sam 6pts (185)
Put a Ring 3pts (166)
Orlando RB 3pts (136)
Das Shits 0pts (137)
Rockers 0pts (132)

PIGEON CUP ROUND 3 MATCHUPS

Under our format 3 wins guarantees advancement into the knockout round.

Pool 1

Khiry v Cerulean -- a big matchup. Khiry is trying to advance and Cerulean can take over 1st place in the group with a win.
Soup (bye)
Ditmas v Quicksilva -- Ditmas will control his own destiny with a win. Quicksilva needs to win to have a chance to advance.

Pool 2

Chaos v View -- Chaos advances with a win. View can start his 3 match win streak this weekend.
Malinska (bye)
Camo v San Antonio -- Adam's Camo can move into 2nd with a win. San Antonio will be in good shape with 6 points with a win this round.

Pool 3

Okoli v Harlow -- With a win Okoli will be in a strong position to advance with 6 points and 1 match to play. Harlow can move into 2nd with a win.
3 Piece Suit (bye) -- no one can advance from Pool 3 this round.
MRSA v NYCFC Forums -- Dan can control his destiny with a win.

Pool 4

Ring v Orlando -- A critical match for both teams to get to 6 points. Orlando can pick up more points in Rounds 4 and 5 while Ring has a bye in Round 4.
Sam's Sandwich (bye) -- won't advance this round but can rack up tiebreaker points.
Rockers v Shits -- Somebody will have points after this round.

Knockout round rule clarification. In the knockout rounds of the Pigeon Cup if there is a tie, the tie breaker is bench points. If there is still a tie, the tied teams compete again the following week to fill the spot.
