2017 MLS Cup Playoffs

If we are a top 2 seed, we will play our semifinal game on November 5th. On November 4th Maryland is playing Rutgers (College Football) at Yankee Stadium. So overnight, Yankee Stadium would have to remove the field goal posts, redo all the lines, and make it into a MLS pitch.

Our playoff game may be moved.

Based on what we know, I don't see why they can't do that. Maybe some unsightly lines aren't fully erased, but I think we could play.
But hell, I don't really know.

damn....its getting moved.....if they cant change the field from soccer to baseball in two and a half days what hope is there for an overnight turnaround....even worse think of the condition of that field

Even if they can miraculous make it look like a typical NYCFC game, I can 100% assume you that it will be worse field conditions we've ever had. The football players will tear up the grass especially in the middle field where the middle of the MLS pitch is.

Yes. I imagine bad lines, bad turf. I just figure we won't have the problem of the 72 hours needed to install or remove grass on the infield dirt. But I could see Vieira and Reyna saying we'd rather play on a good field elsewhere. I can live with Citi if that's the real option. Not that I begrudge anyone who would complain about it.

Goal posts being moved would be easy, the lines and the field condition are the two biggest issues and during the playoffs.

I can't imagine MLS wouldn't do their best to try and schedule that game to be NYCFC on the road and have the Monday or Tuesday game at home instead.

Why do you think NYCFC hasn't gotten any the benefit of any PKs or VARs, and that Red wasn't issued???? MLS is actively trying to get our playoff date moved via the standings.

The game won't be moved. Good grief.
Wait, is this speculation? Or was this said somewhere? Listening to the SITC podcast last night with Patricof, Crooks brought up the Rutgers-Maryland game and I don't remember Patricof outright stating that. But I was listening to it late last night while getting some work done, so possible I missed it.

AFAIK it's all speculation. Lion noticed that if we stay in Seed 2, we're scheduled to host a game the day after a football game at YS. Some think that's a near certainty to be moved, Gator seems certain of the opposite. One of them is right -- and I lean to Gator's side -- but I'm not convinced certainty is warranted.

I think it would be a lot easier to paint lines green and take down goalposts then it is to sod/unsod a field. I think you could go from football to soccer in maybe four hours and be done with it. Sodding the field and giving it time to settle in could be a day or two.

The other consideration is that we keep the second leg but the date is moved later in the week so the field can be converted in time...

For the massive gap between the semis and the conference finals I want to see a friendly scheduled with San Antonio or someone to keep the team in shape.

Looking at the knockout round games, I think the most likely upset would be the Red Bulls beating Chicago. The Fire's extended stretch of meh goes back even longer than ours, and I think RB has been better since Royer came back.
I also really don't want this upset to happen because it means we get Atlanta instead of Chicago next round (unless Columbus beats Atlanta too).

Agree with all of this, although as I have mentioned, don't sleep on Columbus.

Chicago is minus Louie and Schwenie. They are probably the weakest of the six.

I don't want Atlanta in the ECS. But if that means TOR-RB in the ECS as well does the MLS marketing machine do its magic for a Hudson River Derby in the ECF?

Has anybody here bought playoff tickets, apart from the automatic STs? A buddy bought yesterday during the partial plan presale and was less than happy with the process. He couldn’t pick his seat, just price and area. Also he said there was no eticket or print at home option.

I bought during the STH presale and was able to pick a seat. Ticket is avaiable in my account manager for printing and mobile entry.
