2017 Preseason Thread

Any word on Camargo's availability to game play? I recall hearing that he had a knock, which is likely why we haven't seen him play.

I can't be the only one who has checked the weather forecast for March 12, right?

Snow? Rain? A high of 43?

I really only use weather.gov online and Dark Sky on my phone and they only go out a week. So the above forecast is from accuweather.

One game left...

Not that preseason is meant to be "competitive," but we're in last place, THREE losses, ONE goal scored, FIVE conceded, and basically ZERO minutes played with a full starting 11.

For a team that has started the last two seasons like this (below), I'm actually kind of pissed off.

Sure, but IIRC we were bad in both the 2015 and 2016 pre seasons as well, and look at how different those outcomes were.

To be fair, the start of the season isn't all that important since we have playoffs and the Cup. Yes, a supporters shield would be awesome, but which team do you remember from last year, Dallas or Seattle? Take a look at Seattle and (while I hate to bring them up) RBNJ beginnings to their seasons;

RBNJ:

(Sorry, but wikipedia failed me on the RBNJ 2016 season)

Seattle has 6 total wins in the first 21 games of their season, and Bull Shits had 3 after 11 matches. Red Bull finished top of the East and Seattle won the MLS Cup. Beginning results have little to say about a team and what they can do.

Agreed, but we made it all the more difficult to finish the way we did last season with the 7 game winless streak at the beginning. IMO Lampard's scoring streak is really what held us up towards the end. We won't have that now, and I would just like to feel a bit more comfortable at the start. We also have Atlanta in the mix this year, meaning five teams won't get to the post season. I think dropped points will be more of a big deal this time around.

That's all and well, but going to games to watch crappy play/effort defeats the purpose of attending. I'm not against supporting a team that loses when they play well, but it's annoying when the first dozen games are used to get their feet under them.

So why are we playing SKC but not New England?

That's a good question. The website seems all screwy. It doesn't even show the games from yesterday. It just lists 2/18 and 2/25:

Either way, we (6th) should be playing Revs (5th) on the 25th, but then again they just changed game times on us willy-nilly yesterday as well. Maybe they just don't give a damn.

It's not like anyone is showing up to watch.

I don't really have anything to add to the pages of dialogue on this topic, but seeing Mix in this picture is just weird.

Now I'm pulling for him to be listed in our starting XI in orlando. It would just be weird, funny, revolting, awkward, unexplainable all at the same time. And might crash the forum the same way a stadium announcement would.

Even better, Mix never sees the 18 after that match ever again. And we're never given an answer. Like the ending of the Sopranos.

I'd be ok with a sopranos disappearance if he scored a hat trick and beat Orlando/Kreis 3-0... I can't think of any better ending to the saga.

Don't stop believing.

Building on our unsupported fake rumor from the other day. PV refused to go along with the plan to showcase Mix in a pre-season game so this is the front office's new attempt to get Mix noticed. They are now rigging practice scrimmages and posting the results on Twitter with Mix tagged. "Hey Norwegian teams look at this Mix dominates in preseason practice, come on, you know you want him!"

Just cause I find it amusing, we haven't seen a starting 11 yet, and we've only been playing players who we want to sign to the team and Pirlo... since we aren't playing Mix by that logic he is already a starter and will be playing against Orlando. Comfirmed.
