2018 International Duty

A professional soccer player’s focus should be on playing professional soccer rather than comedic gods (Will Ferrell and god?!?) especially when they are out of favor. If PV had excluded Ring or Chanot from the 18 because they played poorly last game do you think either would have posted a picture with Will Ferrell? No chance. Trading jerseys with the enemy is a tradition, and that means that you actually played.

i think you're reading way too far between the lines on this one.

this may be the dumbest argument ive ever read on this forum lmao

People have completely fucking forgotten why this thread was started!

Where are we? The Stadium Thread???

What do all threads lead to?

But to get back on track...

The only international absences for the World Cup thus far will be Wallace and Matarrita. Does anyone want to take the time and find the absences for our opponents during the World Cup?

Atlantas still going to have everyone (good work finding excellent players from crappy NTs) and Toronto too isn’t losing any DPs (except for Jozy who still might be out injured at the end of next month)

I posted something similar to this earlier, based on a schedule that Gotham Gator Gotham Gator put together. I don't have the time to update it now, but if someone wants to, its a couple pages back.

so we take two touch matches with no mata and wallace.....only hope that there are no big suspensions.....atlanta and toronto not going to be missing anyone really of note i think

I think you are overreacting. A majority of MLS owners are of the generic old white guy billionaire business type. That's just a fact. The race point that you are harping on was not even the major point I was making. Sorry if I touched on a nerve.

Will Ferrell and the LAFC ownership group is not typical or generic. If this picture was taken with anyone that was an owner of an MLS team and not a celebrity like Bill McGuire or Andrew Hauptmann we wouldn't even be having this conversation. We are having this conversation because who Will Ferrell is.
I was more just confused, really. Jay made his Will Ferrell point, and Ferrell happens to be white, middle aged and not wearing a suit. None of which seems relevant to me until you said Jay would not have made the point if Lewis met with someone white, old and wearing a suit. I figure your real point is "not a comedian", but it's a really obscure way to say it -- not the least because there are old white comedians who wear suits -- and the white stood out not just because it's race but because it was the same on both instances, unlike the age and clothes part. I appreciate the explanation and I probably came off more worked up than I intended and my expletive was meant to be more what are you even on about than outrage. No big deal.

No worries my friend.

I think the three posts below have good resources for figuring that out, but the answer seems to be probably not any.

Eyeballing our schedule against this Wikipedia list of MLS players who play for their national teams, I don't think we are going to face any teams with players missing for the World Cup. About the most we could expect would be for Orlando or Atlanta to be missing players for friendlies when we play them in the lead up to the World Cup.

Players are beginning to be named to provisional rosters. Today, Omar Gaber was named to Egypt's 29-man provisional roster and Amro Tarek from Orlando also named to Egypt's 29-man provisional roster.
