2018 International Duty

Tata works miracles, Almiron not called up. Atlanta somehow has a roster of international players without losing any for international duty.

Anyone know the reason why Almiron doesn’t make that team? He’s getting top tier looks and looks to be a player who can compete on that level.

FWIW, the USMNT didn't call up any MLS players for this round of friendlies either. For nations which aren't going to the World Cup, it makes sense not to take your countrymen away from their league for pointless friendlies.

ETA: that was supposed to be a reply to JayH JayH.

FYI, Bono and Zimmerman were called up, but your point still stands.

The roster is supposed to change somewhat for the games in Europe. Will be interesting to see if they call up more MLS players.

Nemec is a legend but he’s got a way to go to get to the level of Lord Kwame
Nemec was in the wrong system with Kreis. I guarantee that if he was on the field Wednesday, some of those crosses in the box to nobody would’ve gotten buried in the net by him. We sorely were missing a tall attacking player with the strength to fend off the defenders and win headers. Instead, Maxi watched them cruise 12” above his head.

I doubt it. He couldn’t hit the broad side of a barn while he was playing for NYCFC. He managed all of 3 shots on goal in his 8 starts. And it’s not like he wasn’t getting any chances

Said after the massive NYCFC effort to miss the frame of the goal 21 times last match.

In case you haven’t been following, Nemec has been consistently scoring for his national team. He played on a shit NYCFC team when the sole tactics were to get the ball to Villa every possible time.

I have been. And he has always been better for the national team then his club team, so it’s not like NYCFC was an aberration on his CV. And while yes, the team was very Villa reliant, some of that was due to no one else being able to score. And Nemec’s assists during his time here? Zero

He’s averaging 1G/3games for his national team, and before coming to NYCFC he was averaging 1G/4games for Union Berlin.
