2018 Roster Discussion

Good post. I think Amagat should count in that grouping. Dome is part of our scouting network too as the manager. PV was.
Yeah, I guess what I mean by that is the Amagat signing feels like its just a half-season rental and just happens to be someone that Dome is comfortable with. I don't get the feeling that he's someone that we've actually scouted.

I don't mind him being included there, I just think he's a different kind of European signing than the other players we've brought in.

because he was brought from europe from our scouting network. its no guarantee everyone of them will be great. lately gotten better but i dont think all in all we can just replace tinnerholm and Isi just like that as K Kjbert assumes
I guess it seemed to me that you were implying Brillant was a bad signing, and he was far from that.

both....but i think his pay is what makes it worse. I still think his first touch is not good. I still think he does not use his size for his advantage, and feels clumsy in a lot of plays, we have wallace for that. He does make a good run here and there but it tends to be against bad teams like vs RSL, colorado, and a watered down Toronto ( at home). so still bad outweigh good, so bad signing to me.

maybe he is a player that needs consistent minutes as starter to get better but he just doesnt seem to work when villa is in field too because he seems to be forced to wing where is not meant to play.

That’s a fair opinion that some share. A lot of us would disagree with you. But you think he’s a failure and that’s ok. That’s 1 guy out of 8?

maybe my perception was clouded since chanot came around and then callens. but i recall him not doing well and giving up goals when he was alone here. also there were games last year when he came on we all started our prayers to not give up lead.

What i do find interesting is that he did do well was when he was backup while chanot was injured. Solid. but that was only time it felt that way.

Our last bad signing from Europe was probably Alvarez and even he fulfilled expectations. Nemec was brutal. Pirlo and Lamar’s were signed for the wrong reasons. The Man City kids were ok.

im gonna say 2.5 since Brillant did have a good spell towards end of his nycfc time here

Yea but he wasn’t a failure.

My point still stands. The CFG scouts have hit home runs on our behalf since roster rules allowed more flexibility.

berget, nemec, half brillant ....maybe im overlooking someone but not gonna go yearly list to check all since these came to mind first

Nemec wasn’t brought in by this group though. But whatever. You’re moving goalposts to defend a poor position. We’ve crushed European scouting. I can’t point to a single guy we’ve brought in that didn’t meet or exceed expectations. CFG deserves credit.

who brought him in then if it was not CFG scouting? it sure as hell was not kreis

EDIT: they do get credit, i just dont like idea that Isi and tinnerholm just get sold and we "easily" replace them with someone of same level...even if scouting has been good.

I feel very confident that they could find equal or better players with their track record and an increased budget.

well see starting next year. no more PV to have as selling point to players. this was fear i had since he left.

Well, if Paraguayan sport papers are like Peruvian sport papers 80% of what they report as transfer rumors are just made up stories to stir up a slow news day.

but for medina though? i expect this for almiron
