He's not a bad buy-low candidate though. If we trade some salary away so he only costs a net of $150k, might be an ok risk to take. Lewis and Ibarra as backup wings could be nice depth.
This confuses me. Either way, that's 322K. If we can trade some salary away, it's 322K that could be spent on another player. Shit, 322K is almost the budget charge of a DP.

Alex Ring's on 340K for context. Shit, Justin Meram's on 300K: https://mlsplayers.org/salary-guide/

What's the deal with the Mix salary? That comes off the books right? So we have like 750k to use?

Meram signed a three year extension that will pay him an average of 525k a year with an option four year at 725k.

Mix's salary is irrelevant. His contract was bought out. So while we are still paying him it does not make any different in terms of our MLS budget. Mix's salary is the equivalent of Vieira's salary, makes no difference or effect in our cap.

Thanks for the clarification.

I am not a fan of Ibarra. I just don't see it. He performed well in NASL. He was called up to the USMNT and did nothing. He goes to Mexico and does nothing. They let him go. He does nothing back in Minnesota.

He Was a backup for them this year. Christian Ramirez is the guy who makes it all happen. He was on hat same shitty expansion team and he looked great.

And this was true going into this past season - hence @mgarbowski’s comment that it was already spent.

With Atlanta regularly sighted by many as a team with the model DP strategy what are people's thoughts on the news that Almiron is likely to be transferred before the start of next season? It sounds like Atl is set to turn a considerable profit which should yield some nice GAM for them. But they also will start next season trying to figure things out without their best player and likely a new DP. For those that wish CFG would pursue Almiron type players for NYCFCs DP slots is a every 1-2 year turn over an acceptable downside?

If we get the GAM every 1-2 years and being a conveyor belt to higher places means the quality of those DPs keeps getting better and better, then I am down.

Not exactly. The quality of the players around the DPs should get better and better with the additional GAM.

I guess perhaps the other cash received for the sale that doesn't turn into GAM would make us more likely to use on transfer fees for higher quality DPs though.
