Amagat made $261,250, Berget made $816,667. Total of $1,077,917.

MLS Forwards in that salary range:

David Accam $1.25mm
Diego Rossi $1.05mm
Kriztian Nemeth $1.07mm
Kei Kamara $1.00mm

I'd trade Berget & Amagat for any one of those, any day of the week. And twice over on Wednesdays.
Berget had a better season than Accam.

Jo Inge Berget reportedly wants to leave and return to his former club:
"Hear from several quarters that Jo Inge Berget wants to leave New York City FC for social reasons, as he announced to the club. The Norwegian has done well in MLS's first season but wants to move back to Scandinavia - and what I hear is MFF if he would agree with NYCFC to break the contract. Molde and a couple of other clubs in Scandinavia can also be relevant.
But it is supposed to be that he breaks the contract first.
Answer how it goes there we will not have until the end of January or a bit into February."

Be nice.
Where’s the gofundme link?

From wiki he has 8 from 44appearances at Aberdeen & same for Celtic (46 appearances), as well as 21 in 110 appearances for Dundee. Would be a backup to Isi and Medina, I guess?

The best thing about this news is that the "nycfc" mentions on twitter are now filled with a bunch of Aberdeen fans complaining that their club has been inactive this transfer window, and now this, and speculating whether he might leave midseason or finish out. It's a refreshing change from NYCFC fans complaining that our club has been inactive this transfer window, and now this, and speculating whether our new DP signing might leave midseason or finish out.

Plus we also get SPL fans of different teams insulting each other:

Ooooooooohhhh, you guys! This is my area of expertise!

Young GMS was in the best Dundee United team in generations, alongside Johnny Russell. Came in as kind of a scared wee boy with a lot of promise and was nurtured well by our baldy manager. Was clear he had an amazing box of tricks and when he really flourished, some of the tricks were sublime.

A sample:

I'd urge people to watch some of the highlight reels on the Youtubes, because he really is a magic little man.

After we imploded spectacularly, his departure to Celtic (boooo) along with his boyfriend (unconfirmed) Stuart Armstrong started the dreadful slide that we are still in several years later.

He didn't do anything at Celtic really, supposedly has done pretty well at Aberdeen and recently made news by drunkenly falling in a river at the end of a night out. Also started playing for Scotland recently.

Would he be a good signing for us? Maybe.

Maybe on a par with someone like ITS if both are playing out of their skins. Would be a decent player in this league if he can turn it on and not too expensive.

Thought this part from the Sky article was interesting:

"We got notification from New York City that they wanted to speak to his representatives, as is their right," McInnes told Sky Sports News.

"Gary was oblivious to it. I spoke to him this morning and he knew nothing about it. When players get into this stage of their contract, you have got to accept you are in a fight to keep them.

Obviously they aren't that far along in the process. How long does something like this usually take?

Just to add he had a reputation at United for either being dazzling in games, or totally anonymous.

Not sure what his reputation is at Aberdeen, but the fact that he and Armstrong left together and GMS stayed in the shadows and eventually left for Aberdeen while Armstrong earned himself a move to the Premier League shows he has something of a skill ceiling.

We are going to have a team with nothing but wingers.
I mean, it's ridiculous, right? What exactly are we trying to do here?

SPFL fans calling MLS a farmers' league is hilarious. Last I watched that league more than a few clips or old firm (last year, maybe), I'd say there are no teams outside the old firm that play anything resembling modern football. No better example of boring, dire, agricultural anti-football.

From a BBC article:

"Gary assures me it was nothing he was aware of," McInnes told BBC Scotland. "He is out of contract, so it is understandable that clubs domestically or further afield are going to be interested in good players.

"What we've asked Gary, and asked him to reiterate this morning, is 'have we still got an opportunity to have you here next season?' and he said 'absolutely'."

This just has the smell of another Amagat. Maybe it’s the Jets fan in me after last night. But I see 28 year old player who never had the skills for top a flight league, career minor leaguer coming here because our league is supposedly easy to dominate by those level players. And why do we need another winger anyway?

Really? I'm seeing very few similarities to Amagat. Age, league, connection to club/coach, position, style of play
