Eeehhh...... naw, bud.

The ugly sisters could hold their own and maybe these clubs could compete for midtable against the RSLs and San Joses of the league. But put St Mirren, Livingston, Motherwell, really most of those teams against LA, NYCFC, Atlanta, Seattle, DC.... they're gonna get bummed in to oblivion.

Maybe not the St Mirren 87 cup team, now they were quality

He mentions Europe. Does he not know that the best MLS DPs have come from South America? Or Mexico? Go do your fucking business there.

they did, they got maxi and medina, who are both considered trash when they were signed.

still, its just real bad that they had no targets. I mean come one you damn well knew villa was a year to year thing and was going to leave at some point

I think he means the league from where you sign the player. Even where the DP is South American, the player is often signed out of Europe.

Look back at the last 5 seasons. All the winners of the Landon Donovan trophy were signed out of Europe; 3 were European and 2 were South American. If you look at the winners and 2 runners up each season, 12 were signed out of Europe, 1 (Almiron) was signed out of S. America and 1 (Lee Nguyen) was signed out of Viet Nam; 6 of the players were from Europe, 4 from the U.S., 3 from South America and 2 from Africa.*

I know Atlanta has gotten a lot of attention for what they've found in Almiron and spent on Barco, but they also signed Martinez, who was playing in Serie A and not really thriving. That kind of signing - a "Giovinco" signing - can be a great thing; finding a talented guy who is in a bad situation in a top league.

* - numbers add up to 14 because David Villa was a finalist twice.

Dome tells AS "we've got our needs more or less covered, we think we've got a pretty complete team," but they're thinking about signing some "interesting players."

"It's not that we've ruled out bringing in a big name, but it's tricky to replace a guy who had everything. We're working patiently, searching for the best players for what we want."

That sounds like a paraphrase/translation of the Front Row Soccer story, or at least they both spoke to Torrent at the same time.

Nah, it’s a direct quote:
Aún así, la mentalidad del entrenador Domenec Torrent es positiva, “las necesidades que tenemos las tenemos más o menos cubiertas, creo que tenemos un equipo bastante completo”, le dijo Torrent a AS USA.

“Lo que tenemos en mente de fichar para este año hay jugadores interesantes”, dejó caer para indicar que tampoco se trata de que el equipo no piense traer refuerzos para la temporada 2019.
Assuming Parks is a done deal (and Dome is accounting for that here, rather than describing the team only as publicly anounced), I guess the big gap from our perspective is CF. It’ll be interesting to see if Berget stays / steps up, Medina moves inside, or otherwise how we cover with current personnel. Dome’s team “bastante completo” should be a trip, at least.
