I think we need to sign another right back and a striker. I don’t. Believe we need another winger with the winger corpse already having 4 players being Medina, Tajouri-Shradi, Lewis, And castellanos. Matarrita can also play winger but we don’t want to have a log jam on the wings. We need to get a good striker and i think the team can be set as we have a solid squad.

Announce Falcao

...

I'm also apparently hated on Reddit, at least on r/MLS as I'm seen as an Atlanta/Red Bull hating piece of garbage.

ITS, Medina, and Taty all had injuries at various points last year. One more guy for depth purposes isn't going to hurt. I think bare minimum you need 7 guys on roster for the front 3 and we have 5 if Berget stays.

Look at Man city roster they have 2 strikers and 3 true wingers and a number of CM who can play wide and that’s why there able to get proper rotation out of there players. We already have 4 true wingers and Mata who can play wide. That’s 5 wide players for 2 spots. Again we don’t want a logjam of wide players again when we have other needs like another RB, a striker and maybe another CB/CM

I’ve been thinking of USOC participation based on this roster. Villa never got a green card, so it always made it harder to field a team with a max of 5 INT players. Right now here’s our domestics and green card players.

Domestics:
F/W: Lewis.
MF: Keaton, Ring (GC), Sands, Haak?, Bedoya, Rocha
FB: Sweat, mata (GC), Scally
CB: Chanot (GC), Callens (GC), Ibeagha
K: Johnson, Stuver, Caldwell

INT players (max 5):
F/W: Berget?, Isi, castellanos, Medina
MF: Maxi
FB: Tin
CB: Hontoundji
K: N/A

Pretty weak at RB and F/W when it comes to domestics. But if you add Tin, Isi, Tati, Medina And Maxi, you can have all our starters our there.

Not sure about the source. But reasonable hypothesis. Question then becomes do we want a disgruntled player here who wasn’t very good to begin with and costs $1mm vs the cap?

Judging by the grammatical skills of the author, can't give much credit to the source. Didn't read the whole thing because it hurt my head, but it seemed as though the guy was just throwing together an article based on various web sources and speculation on his part.

I think he writes in another language and machine translates into English.

We don't have the type of players that Man City has that can give us that flexibility, nor do we have a reserve team that we can lean on for emergency. Mata is made of glass and we don't have a replacement for Maxi at the 10 if he plays the wing.

Can't you make the same arguement that you are making about signing a 3rd RB and a 5th CB?

I guess if you take into account KJBert's and Reyna's "totally gonna happen soon" HG signings, it's more like:

Striker/Wing: Berget, Tajouri-Shradi, Castellanos, Lewis
Wing/CAM: Moralez, Medina
CM: Ring, Parks, Sands, Bedoya, Rocha, [Haak]
RB: Tinnerholm, Abdul-Salaam, Scally
LB: Matarrita, Sweat
CB: Chanot, Callens, Ibeagha, Hountondji, [Owusu]
GK: Johnson, Stuver, Caldwell, Barraza

...However on the NYCFC academy page it called Owusu a "field player" and I have no idea what that is...

So basically even WITH the homegrown signings, we don't fill any of the positions we need depth in, lol.

What do you guys think about the division between “striker/wing” and “wing/CAM”?

Frankly only one guy on the top line is a real striker, although I think those others could do it in a pinch.

Villa back in NYC

ETA. Frank is supposed to get here around 10am, but don’t expect him till at least noon.
