A few years back I heard about a chant that the Ottawa Senators (NHL) put together for their captain and home town hero, Alfredsson. They heard that he might not be coming back the following season, and wanted to show their support for him. A few guys posted their idea on octal media and the idea slowly started building momentum. Since he wore the #11 jersey the fans would start chanting his name at the 11:11 mark of each period. The first time they did it, it was pretty bad, but as the periods and games wore on they eventually got the whole arena to chant it. I think it would be a fitting way to show our appreciation for our two favorite players by cheering for them when the time on the game clock matches their jersey number.

If we are chanting for Poku at the 88th minute, alot of people will be unhappy this season.

It doesn't mean he hasn't been on the pitch the whole match or we haven't chanted for him until the 88th minute. Just an additional Poku chant - although he does seem to score or assist around that marker anyway.

Who's 2 favorite players? I think you have to do it for any player on the pitch. Good thing the old guys got lower #s.

I've been promoting cue chants since day one, whatever they are, as it's the only way to get more of the stadium involved given the terrible sound issues. Lots of teams use a clock cue like these (soccer, hockey) and they generally work well with the right player with the right number (like the Washington Caps fans do with Ovi at the 8 minute period mark). "David Villa" at 7 or the traditional Super Frank chant at 8 (though the latter may be a problem for some) would work great. Poku at 88 may be a little tougher because it is either crunch time or a game out-of-hand so the mood may not be right one way or the other. In any event, I'm a fan of the suggestion.

That's true. They're my favorite two players on the team, and I think that's a great idea for to cheer for every single player on the field, but if they get subbed do we still chant for them. What happens if they get subbed on after their number has passed on the game clock, ect. ect. Would anyone have started a cheer for Nemec last year? It's gonna be hard getting it off the ground, but I like the idea more than the actual details of it, so I'm up for any suggestions.

JayH JayH How can we start having a discussion about this (getting the details down about starting it up, which players) without asking everyone on the internet. As far as I can tell it's never been overly productive to bring it up on the forums/Facebook. I think people need to get together and talk it out about how to best organize these chants. With that being said this forums helps get the ball rolling .

After 9 minutes of added time, let's cue it up for Tony Taylor #99.
