I ain't involved in this, but derossi is pretty much a defensive mid. So I actually maybe agree with you, but this isn't the best example.

I'm kidding around but I do think the 4-3-3 is a very flexible formation that's played effectively in a number of different ways and many successful examples can be found that don't have a dedicated CDM.
1) When you have Chiellini behind you, I could play D Mid
2) My personal opinion of the 4-3-3 is when you have 3 decently athletic and interchangeable players in the midfield who can defend, pass, press and move forward. That's orettt much what Liverpool does right now, even if you consider Henderson a defensive player

Or if you never give the ball away, a la Barca.
An even better point. I caught their "90 in 30" on BeIn the other day. They can get the ball up the pitch on the ground faster than some teams can going up the M1. They're amazing
If we partner Pirlo with 2 box to box mids who are both decent defensively and will work hard then we don't need a CDM.
If we want to have someone playing as a number 10 like Camargo/TMac then i think we will need a CDM.
433 is an extremely adaptable system that many teams use and some play in a completely different style to others. Unlike 4-4-2 it is hard to define exactly what type of players are needed for each position.
The problem with Pirlo is that you need to build a midfield around him which is a problem when hes only here for 1 more season.

Reading his comments about coming to this city and club makes me an instant fan. He just seems to get it.
We won't know for sure until we see them play, but Callens, Lewis and now Ring have me excited about the team this year. All seem to be good moves that address the holes we have been seeing here
I also liked how he said that he fought hard to be here, so maybe his club didn't want him to go but he was committed to coming here

I don't know Ring, but from his background I imagine he checks all the boxes PV was looking for in a midfielder when he decided to start Mikey against Toronto in the playoffs.
