Andrew Jacobson [Midfielder]

Just watched the replay on YES -- that marking by Jacobson on the MTL goal was atrocious. I don't know if he was ever within 2 meters of his man and he killed Saunders' clean sheet...

He was ball watching rather than marking his man and he missed the flight of the ball. Other than that he played really well and gave Villa a great through ball for his opportunity at a brace. He has played every minute of every game except when we was red carded off in Chicago and the subsequent game because of suspension.

Jacobson sucks
Sucks isn't quite the right word. As we mentioned earlier, he is a decent MLS level midfielder. But he isn't a CDM which is what we play him as. A duck isn't a chicken no matter how hard it tries.

I still really really really wish NYCFC would trade/sign a traditional CDM.

Curious, had you seen him play CM for Dallas? From what I see, he tackles well, and has good positioning, but he really passes poorly, and makes some glaring turnovers from that deep position. Thats kind of the opposite that I would expect from a converted CM. Was he a good passer/distributor in dallas?

So help me god if he ever played higher up in our midfield. Defensively he's mediocre, and that's a compliment by his standards

He can pass he can't shoot he can't contribute to our attack, I can't imagine why in the world he would try to play as a central midfielder when he possesses no possible traits to succeed in the spot.

My opinion is he wants to get forward. That's where he excels. Even at Dallas, they tried him at CDM and he was replaced by Henry Thomas (who I wish NYC would sign, he is a free agent!). He is a CM, can dabble at defense but it's not his thing. But he certainly tries. A for effort.

We give him a lot of grief (often well deserved) on the Forum, but I will say that when it comes down to yelling/calling out and getting into the opposition's face - he is certainly entertaining. He went full blown ape on someone last night.

jacobson is a disappointment, seeing his name in the starting lineup every week makes me disappointed.

Stop hating on the Hebrew Hammer. Support your team, support your players. Except Alvarez or Watson-Siriboe for knocking us out of the Open Cup.

I thought retire Crew/KC goalie Andy Grunenenbaum was the Hebrew Hammer?
