Angelino [Defender]

Didn’t he play RB for us?
Nah he was a LB for us, similar to Mata's style in having a lot of speed going forward and sometimes playing defense. He would be perfect to have now at LWB.

RB was a clusterfuck year one with Shay Facey, Wingert, Iraola, and Josh Williams all being used there. I think we even signed RJ Allen year 1 too?

Did Brovsky ever play at RB for us? I thought he did, but after looking at a few match centres on Whoscored, looks like he was mostly LB.

Either way, that opening backline of Brovsky-Wingert-Hernandez-Williams was something. With Saunders behind them, how did that squad not set any records for goals allowed?

Honestly, did anyone see this coming for him? Glad he is doing well.
I don't think we expected to see him do this well, but the potential was always there. Probably best for him to go to a club and get decent playing time to learn and progress into a formidable LB. Heard decent things about him through the MCFC system, but it was easy to see it was his first experience in a non youth team.
Good for him for leaving city and getting legitimate playing time elsewhere.
Curious to see if he tops out in the Eredivisie or goes on to bigger clubs. 10 assists in 34 games in the Eredivisie is pretty good for a LB, even in a hyper-offensive league like the Dutch one is.

Yeah, Brovsky was RB to wingert’s LB. then later Wingert was tried inside when it became painfully obvious he lacked the outside speed (and positioning and skill) to play LB.

The league was overall much weaker even just 4 years ago and change. It's head-spinning really. It's not just our squad, but half of the talent that was on the starting XI of every team for the 2015 season wouldn't make the cut now.

It’s crazy though because even though you’re 100% correct, there have been some 1-off mega teams found sporadically back to the beginning of MLS. That DC team(s) from 97-99 with Etch, Jamie Moreno, Lassiter, Diaz Arce, Harkes, Gori, Wegerle, Pope, Sanneh, Llamosa, Sonora, Olsen, (I’m forgetting a few players) could go toe-2-toe with our modern MLS teams.
