Deserved to get a shutout here but Atlantas goal was a wonderfully struck ball off a failed clearance.
Great match, great effort and great goals. Aside from the 5-15 minute mark we dominated play and had tons of scoring chances.
Lots of bright spots in this one.

I had the misfortune of listening to a chunk of this game on the radio. Can we all chip in and get Crooks a pronunciation guide? Pronounces Callens like Collins and Brillant like Brilliant.

You'd think someone in the front office would help him out.

Lots of really bright spots to see here.

With Herrera on the field we can out athlete one of the most athletic high presses in the league. I really enjoy seeing this hyper athletic version of NYCFC, its such a breath of fresh air. In that same vein, that one week break for Villa really did him some good, he was wonderful. I'm thinking that giving Villa a break every 7 or 8 games could result in a higher goals expected from Villa.

Also I cant wait for Mata to get back out there, for the first time I think we're actually just really good instead of just a bit lucky.

The above could be the result of me just not understanding the concept of a fast paced and athletic NYCFC.

dude, that is how Callens wants it pronounced. Do you even pod, bro?

Guys, we absolutely BOSSED a very good and athletic team. PV gave Tata a dose of his own medicine and made him swallow.

This was easily the best performance of an NYCFC team I've ever seen. The team that played today wins MLS cup in a laugher. Will we get it consistently? I don't know. But if we do, look out. Really, really strong.

The pressure was coordinated and incessant. The attacks were quick and slicing and deadly. This, ladies and gentlemen, was a true first division team set up to and capable of competing against the best MLS can offer and beyond. We were a scary team today. I shit you not. Not saying we would win, but any club in the world would have had hell besting us.

Herrera Is incredible.

The work rate. The athleticism. The touch. The skill. The vision.

I'd take him as DP right now.

Enjoy Herrera while you can, he is going to Man City sooner rather than later. Between him and Ring it's like having two octopuses in midfield that tie up anything and don't let it get past them. I think ATL is still losing the ball even as they are getting on the bus.

I am really enjoying that NYCFC showed up and served up a huge glass of shut up juice to ATL. This game wasn't even close to the 3-1 score. NYCFC had 11 - that's right ELEVEN - shots on target. From the overexuberant ATL podders to the MLS talking heads about how "dominating" ATL's offense was and how their DP's are the "new model" for MLS - especially all the oohing and aaahing about Almiron, who got absolutely owned today. He had no space to breathe.

That was ownage and if that team continues to show up they can win MLS cup. If Maxi, Ring and Herrera play like that consistently - that is a championship winning midfield.

Currently 3rd in the East with two games in hand over RBNJ .

I may have been a bit drunk at the end of the match, but at the time I was willing to say that this version of NYCFC is the best team in the East.

Pirlo is a legend and I feel privileged to have had him on my hometown team, but his time with us is over.

Bring on Dallas.
