What is everyone's opinion on the Wallace goal Sunday? Did he know anything about it? Did Villa get a touch?
At least as much as Lampard did for half of his.

No on the villa touch, although he tried.

Watching the replay, Wallace definitely spins to make sure he got something on it, so he intended the touch. Think he probably just wanted to make sure it didn't get all the way through, though. Might have even been planning to tap it back to Maxi.

ETA:
Looking at the Behind the Scenes video, Villa did not get a touch and Wallace absolutely knew what he was doing...
There is also the counter possibility that he spins and hits it exactly where he meant. I don't know that there'd be a meaningful difference in what we could see b/t trying to get it on frame or lay it off for Maxi.

Either way, the important thing is he takes up those positions. I'll say he meant it because he works his ass off. Work hard to win the ball back, you get the benefit of the doubt.

Really hard to say on either question, but my best guesses are Wallace had some idea, even if there was also some chance in the direction of the deflection. And I'd say it's 51% chance Villa had a touch.

ETA: LionNYC LionNYC is right about the BTS video. No touch for Villa, and I stand by my Wallace comment. Definite intent for the touch, unclear if the direction was chance.

He deserved it whatever happens, he had a nice game, and that early 2nd half sequence is more painful with every rewatch. I don't know how those three shots were stopped.
I think every player and spectator nearly had a heart attack during that 3-shot sequence. Baffling none went in.

I think all 3 were cleared off the line by defenders. Pretty amazing. How are none of those up for save of the week?

I agree with many above on Wallace. He 100% was trying to back heel that on frame.

It was a blur but didn't the GK block the first one?

He definitely saved the last one, when he tapped it over the crossbar.

Would love to see how close the 2nd was to going in. The Pirez (think it was him) clearance, he was standing inside the goal mouth at least a foot or two. Don't think crossed the line, but pathetic there's no good camera shot of it.

There WAS a good shot of it until the VAR ref deleted it.

That's cute. I'm just happy I won't ever see her in my section again.
I heard she moved to Chicago and is now a Basti groupie!!!!! :p:p:p
Holy crap!! And I thought I was just kidding but WTF???

edit: post removed. As Adam says, I don't need the drama of a stalker.......

Aren't you taught to try to aim for the back post on something like that? Miss inside, it's on target. Miss outside, it's an easy finish for a teammate with good positioning.
