As I mentioned in the chat I hate he fact that we conceded this game after scoring. When you score 2 away to Atlanta walking out with a draw isn’t a victory.
We were pressuring them, had them on their heels, scored a goal and then Vieira decides to walk out with a draw. Man do I hate that. I have full confidence that playing like this away against tough opponents will win us the shield but I have no confidence that it will win us the cup. That’s been the case the last 2 years.

I have no comment other than that was one of the most embarrassing 90 minutes of soccer I’ve seen out of an NYC player from Ben Sweat. He didn’t complete a single forward pass. Anyone still defending the decision to start him over Mata is drunk.

So we’ve scored at least 2 goals every game - that’s crazy.

Probably already said in the shoutbox, but it’s the 12th man effect when we never get calls after being knocked over but ATL gets bumped and they get the whistle. Chapman wasn’t as bad as he’s been in the past, but he screwed us numerous times by allowing heavy challenges to turn into counter-attacks.

Holy hell ATL gets a lot of fortuitous bounces right to them.

Not the best matches for Medina and Herrera. Sweat also had a bad match.

Great matches from SJ, Chanot, Callens, Tinner, Ring and even Bergat for winning the PK.

The tactics for playing Maxi so deep were bad. Once he played higher, things happened.

Hope Shradi is ok. Hamstrings can be a curse.

That's a little dramatic. Getting a point on the road against a Shield contender is a fine result. We had to sub Tajouri early and had to waste our attacking sub in the first half.
Conceeding the play to an opponent is no different than playing down to an opponent. Both are frustrating. We conceded the last 15 minutes to ATL and dared them to score and quite frankly they should have and had loads of chances. I’m not going to sit here and be satisfied because we drew when we could have won.

Salute to Atlanta, a worthy adversary.

That was the first televised MLS match I've seen which felt, from the couch, like a "proper football match" in terms of scale, spectacle, atmosphere and pure entertainment. I'd bet a lot of the players felt like they were in the effing Bernabeu (minus those who have actually played there).

Hey, Atlanta has both a counterattacking look *and* a possession-based look! What a concept!

Riiiiiiiing! Finally makes good on all those laughable shots.

I can't wait until Atlanta comes to visit in June.

We need a stadium.

Sweat had a howler, but you know little about turf and recovering from injuries. Mata may not have physically been able to go 90min on turf after Wednesday’s match. Look at Shradi- he’s been a beast and he pulled up with a non-contact injury. Why do you think Villa didn’t start?

Okay fair. Can we agree if Sweat starts next game it’s a crime against humanity?

That game was a hell of a lot of fun. I think it's safe to say that right now those are the two best teams in MLS, and they proved why today. Just tremendous theater.

Can't wait to see those guys in the Bronx -- it'll be a very different game.

Our ability to claw points out of difficult road games under Patrick Vieira is one of the best skills we have. Great, great point.

Then I really don’t know what match you were watching. He deserves to ride the pine for that performance for a few matches. I was one of his biggest supporters last year so it’s not like I’m being anti-Sweat. He was the worst.
Tinnerholm on the right and Salaam on the left.
Pretty sure we’ve lined up like that before. That’s if Mata can’t go.

If you want to kill a player’s confidence, you do exactly what you’re suggesting. Players cannot be afraid to play and make mistakes. He had a howler. So did Medina. You want to bench Medina too. What if Mata can’t go 90 next week? Draconian decisions like you’re suggesting are counter-productive.
