Atlanta - Postmatch

Exactly. People complain that we can't adjust and then bitch aboput the player that lets us adjust.

Just because the guy is tall and clumsy doesn't mean he's good at tall clumsy things.

I can think of another player who gives us the ability to adjust:

The outlet drop kick that Johnson sent to Lewis where he outran Parkhurst for the ball, left Parkhurst absolutely winded and spent. Parkhurst then moved over to the opposite touchline (the 3rd base side) away from Lewis, shifting positions with another CB. I was really surprised the team didn’t take note and try to exploit it - Parkhurst was so vulnerable to being outrun, but all of the play down that side was our methodical short passing. I’m not a big proponent of having players switch sides, but this was the one time it seemed prudent to flip Lewis over, clear out the area for him to go 1v1 on a break, and let Johnson or Callens send balls over to top to him - kinda the same tactic Atlanta uses with Martinez.

That ref was pretty one-sided with the calls and no-calls. Not sure why the falling ATL player wasn’t called for a handball in the box??? And the facial takedown of Isi on the side of the box sure looked like a hand to the face. Score one for MLS keeping game their prize in 1st place.

This, however, should have been looked at twice

Thoughts after the rewatch:

1) Ibeagha missed timed the Martinez goal. Didn't even look like he tried to jump for it. Chanot needs to take his spot.
2) Jon Lewis needs minutes.
3) When we went to 3ATB Tinnerholm moved to the backline and Ring stayed in the midfield. Ring is so much more effective. There should be zero reasons to take Ring out of the midfield for any reason or formation change. Ofori played so much better with Ring behind him. Almiron and Martinez were practically neutralized.

Flying V much more effective.
Agreed. I've always thought the Flying Vs were awesome, although personally I have an SG.
