Autonomous Weapons

Oh i didn't even watch it :)

that being said, it is likely in the near future. war and such is no good as it is. take away the human aspect of it and it's only going to get worse.

You do realize everything you posted here is the entire point of the article and the video, right?

Wait, let me try to answer. No. No, you don’t. Was I right?

Indeed. Why watch it if I already know what it's about? :) Just saving everyone 7 minutes of their life.

This guy keeps up with global arms treatises, bleeding edge robotics and AI. That's all in his spare time, when he's not saying a newcomer best 11 CB sucks.

AI is an exciting space in the military industry. I recently tested an early development infantry system, with an occulus type eyewear system which detects and directs soldiers to enemy movements, zeroes in on the location of gunfire and distinguishes between enemy and friendly fire. It was truly fascinating. It could certainly be a precursor to fully autonomous soldiers, which would be a blessing and a curse.

Whew. Thanks.
ha, I read that dripping with sarcasm. So much better then the no shit reply that followed. Why correct people. Leave them in their smug boxes grinning like they realized something you didn't.

Fair enough.

Anyone else see this?

If you have 7 minutes, watch the video. That’s some scary shit.

I wish that group well, but I have no confidence that any ban on the weaponization of AI can be enforced. Governments will do what they want. Non-state actors will hack any obstacles that manufacturers insert. I think that's the best we can hope for: obstacles that prevent too many random extremists from getting access to it and moderately responsible behavior from state-actors. But it will be used, and abused.

Exactly, and that's what makes it so scary to me.
