Sounds like, " I don't want any of the blame for shitting the bed in DC"

I'm confused. We were playing pretty great. Why flip a switch like that and then dig in your heels?

Seems like he wants Mata and Jack as the forward wingers, with Wallace as a CAM.

Matarrita - Villa - Harrison
Wallace - Moralez
Pirlo - Ring
Callens - Chanot - Brillant

Meh, I prefer the 4-3-3 with a better RB.

Wallace looked so lost in the middle, and Ring seemed less effective when not given free rein to roam

Yeah, a couple guys aren't in their best positions in that lineup. I actually wonder if it would be better with Herrera in for Ring and Camargo or McNamara in for Wallace (or Matarrita with Wallace going back outside).

Just because you have two systems doesn't mean you need to use the same XI.

I think that actually would be better, as much as I like Wallace and Ring. In fact, I may actually sit Mata and keep Wallace on the wing, with Camargo at CAM.

That left wing spot becomes even more logjammed when Lewis is healthy. Or when he is healthy and fit, you could potentially have Jack in at CAM and Lewis on the right wing.

Given the below, what formation are people expecting?

I think that notwithstanding the comment, we will be back in a 4-3-3. I think we will see th 3-4-3 again, but some of this is also a headfake to Philly.

Random thought but are we certain PV among his coach speak doesn't consider the formation we played the first few games a 3-4-3? Possibly a stretch but with Mata playing primarily in attack mode with a more defensive RB in either White or Brillant I wouldn't be surprised if he considers everything we've seen so far a 3-4-3.

Because we need to work out a Plan B.

Yeah, I think it is basically this. I get the need to build some tactical flexibility during the first part of the season, so I don't really mind playing around with the lineups from time to time. We did that last year as well with the W-M.

Now, if he fucks with the formation and/or lineup going into a key playoff game again...

This is the only legitimate bit of information I took from the article:

Part of the problem, Vieira said, is that it does not appear that San Antonio FC is interested in adding any players from NYCFC at the moment.
“We are working together but they will have to need players in the position that we need to send players to them so it will be difficult,” he said.

So, what's the point of having an affiliate team?

If we want two systems, they should be this:

Option A: 4-3-3
Wallace - Villa - Harrison
Maxi - Herrera - Ring
Matarrita - Callens - Chanot - White

Option B: 3-2-2-3
Wallace - Villa - Harrison
Maxi - McNamara/Camargo
Pirlo - Herrera
Callens - Chanot - Brillant/White

Because we need to work out a Plan B.
Plan B should be a different set of players than simply using the Plan A set differently. S sbrylski brought it up, and to add to what he said, I think Plan B needs to include Okoli as a CF since he may be the one guy we have that can attack crosses. I'd like to see a Plan B look like this (if using the 3-4-3):

Villa Okoli Harrison
Wallace Maxi Hererra Ring (not implying flat)
Callens Chanot White

I could see Camargo for Wallace too. Let Ring and Hererra clean up all messes allowing Maxi and Wallace/Camargo attack.

Wallace is not a CAM. But Camargo and McNamara are.

Harrison is not a RWB but maybe Shelton is.

Brillant is not a RCB but maybe Chanot or White is.

Unfortunately, Pirlo will never be benched. Unless he's injured.

We looked dreadful. There was no chemistry and players looked lost. I tuned out last game before end of first half. Not on purpose, I fell asleep. Woke up shortly before beginning of second but I may as well have stayed asleep.
We looked great in the games prior, some unlucky results but we genuinely looked good.
Idk if he's trying to prove he's some masterful tactician but right now he's he reincarnation of Kreis.
