Might we see something like this?

ITS-Berget-Lewis
Ring-Maxi-Amagat
Sweat-Callens-Ibeagha-Tinnerholm
Johnson

Then for Red Bulls we go with our top 11:

ITS-Villa-Medina
Ring-Maxi-Ofori
Mata-Callens-Chanot-Tinnerholm
Johnson
Quite possible. I know that the RB game is the bigger of the two, and obviously, Villa is the better forward between him and Berget, but I wonder if Dome is going to split the starts between the two, he opts for Berget against NJ as it allows him to play more direct.

Villa has to play this match. He needs to outdo his 53.5 yard chip from last season.

No, Villa has to start vs New Jersey because I’ll actually be at the game. And obviously that’s the most important factor

I don’t think anyone involved in this conversation to this point has ever considered what “because” actually means.

I’ve seen series of statements I can agree with. I definitely have seen sound logic.

I haven't had a sufficient amount of coffee yet this morning, but I have no clue what this means

So, that's very good availability. Do we sit anyone in anticipation of Wednesday?

We have enough talent up front to make changes, although I start Villa for this one and plan to sub him out at 60-70.

In back, we can do things like rotate Sweat and Matarrita and Ibby and Chanot.

The question is the midfield. Maxi, Ring and Ofori are the 3 best guys and it is not particularly close. If any of them are sufficiently worn out that they can only go one of the next 2 games, then maybe you slide someone back from the front to play midfield - like Medina.

It helps that we don't have a game the following weekend, so our guys can go flat out for these two games and then rest.

The defense needs continuity. Unless it’s a fitness/injury issue, Chanot needs to be playing next to Callens. And everybody knows my feelings with the Mata/Sweat saga.... if we’re rotating up front, I’d rather have Mata available to play there then penciled in at LB, and that gives us the same back four playing together and being familiar with each other.

I don't think there's any way we play without our strongest XI over the next 2 games with 9 days off after RB. Maxi can go 90 both games, as can the CBs and Tinny. We just play different at home that'll allow some flexibility and formation changes that tend to give "rest" as in less running. I hope we see

----------Villa
----Isi--Maxi--Medina
----Ofori----Ring
Sweat--------------Tinny
------Callens-Chan0t
-----------SJ

Right now, that looks like our most potent lineup. If we get 2 on the board, we have the subs in Berget (Villa), Lewis (Medina, Isi), Tommy (Maxi), Awuah (Ofori, Ring), Mata (Sweat, Tinnerholm), Ibeagha (Callens/Chanot) to save legs for RB, even though we're going to hoof it over them for the most part.

So from what I’ve heard in passing, Ibeahga has shown better in training than Chanot. While I have no proof of this, it might explain the switching. I disagree that he is better in matches, I am just passing along the message.
I've always wondered if practices give a false sense of ability because playing against teammates 5 days in a row for months gives a player's opposite an innate understanding of their tendencies and moves in certain situations. Not saying it can't also go both ways, but certain players can just match up well against others due to differences in physical traits and technical styles.

If Villa and the other forwards have figured Chanot out because they know to press to a certain side or something similar, then Ibeagha could look better because he doesn't try to QB the passing and instead just gets rid of it; or if Villa and Maxi and the others have a harder time against Ibeagha's larger more physical style, that too could make him shine better. But when both are playing opponents unfamiliar with their styles, Chanot could be the gamer of the two because he's calmer on the ball and forces teams to respect his distribution, whereas teams that have big forwards can nullify Ibeagha's presence and press him into unsettled passes or just kicking it into a clearance.

It's kinda like TMac.... I'm convinced he's great in practice because he likely knows how every teammate plays and that fools the coaches into a false sense of his ability that is undressed in games where the opponent does things differently from what he's used to experiencing.

or, maybe Ibeagha really is better and just gets ruffled under the pressure during matches.

I also wonder how much practice time is spent in situations where Chanot can show of his passing and ball skills verses defense versus offense type drills where Ibeagha looks great because all he's being asked to do is defend. Looking at defense alone I could see someone thinking they are comparable but Chanot's distribution is so much better than Ibeagha's.
