Brooklyn Supporters

Ditmas Park area, work in Downtown Bklyn, so any place near metrotech/barclays works for me; seems most convenient for both north/south brooklynites, and all the transit options you could want. Definitely down for an MLS cup watch party, or EPL games once the season starts.

I work out of 4 Metrotech myself, so that's how I know about La Defense, they are always showing soccer on their projection screen, place was packed during the world cup.

I was emailing with Zach Galkin, NYCFC Account Executive about this stuff. They are working at contacting bars around the city to be I guess partners to always show matches. I of course recommended some of my favorite bars in the area who were showing World Cup matches. So far I've recommended Mission Dolores, The Double Windsor, and The Adirondack. I like good beer. But I know there will be "official" bars around the city.

I'm moving to NYC from San Francisco in a couple of weeks. The apartment we are going to be living in is on the same block as Mission Dolores! It's close and has an SF link. Too perfect for me haha

I went to Woodwork when I was visiting in June to catch the Germany v Portugal game. Great soccer bar, but the owner (I think) was incredibly rude. Totally turned me off to that place.

I wanted to share this with my fellow Brooklyn Supporters, starting in November, Brooklyn will have its own expansion team in the new ABA and will play at Aviator at Floyd Bennett Field, all games are on Saturday/Sunday and a season ticket package for 13 games is only $150.

Could be a fun place for us guys to get together.

I saw that one other commenter lives in Ditmas Park. I do too and wanted to mention a bar called Highbury Pub in the neighborhood. It's pretty small, but it has a good atmosphere for big matches - World Cup and also Arsenal matches (owner is a fan, as you can tell by the name). They are hurting for business a lot of the time, so it would be good to support a place that is very much soccer-centric. And they also might be very willing to show away games because of that.

I've never been to La Defense but what type of place is it? Does it have the affordable price, laid back environment and amount of TVs we are going to need?

From what ive seen the place is pretty empty nights and weekends, it seems to be more of a lunch spot for the metrotech employees.

Hmmm.. I haven't been but it does not seem like a great environment for soccer fans...I think a bar like Woodwork, if not woodwork, would be better...

Yeah I know they are pub partner with NYRB but we can still go and watch NYCFC games there. Other than being a NYRB bar its perfect and itd be great to support a bar that shows all the mls games and ccl games. IMHO, i dont hate the red bulls and dont mind being at the same bar as them

If it's a NYRB affiliate bar they may be under obligation to show RB games? In which case in event of a fixture clash the bar is not of much use to you.

Just speculating, of course. They may not be under any such obligation.

I doubt they are, and they would likely just show both games; As far as Im concerned neither team is going to pack the bar so any synergy with other MLS teams including red bulls would be helpful for us

With the amount of great bars in Brooklyn, why would you (generally speaking) be so set on Woodwork? I've heard it come up many times as a possibility. To me it should be off-limits. They even give you coupons to Woodwork with a Viking Army membership. I'd want to be affiliated with that bar as much as I'd want to be affiliated with Mad Hatter or Legends.

Yea, I'm the one who said lives in Ditmas Park. Haven't been to highbury yet, but have been meaning to check it out one of these days.

From what I know,(Could be wrong) Woodwork is the only Soccer bar in Brooklyn that shows all mls games. I was there tonight for the US open final and there was a decent crowd of Seattle and philly fans. This as well as the central, for BK, location makes it for me the best choice

MLS FINAL DEC. 7 3pm

Would be great to organize a meet up to watch the MLS final. Should be a great match and opportunity to meet up with NYCFC supporters before next season. Im hoping we can get a good group here, so where is everyone at?

Greenpoint season ticket holder here. Iona or Banter in Williamsburg are good. Downtown Bklyn/Atlantic Ctr. location is nice and central too.
